This is horrific. When I fostered, I was already shocked by how little rights kids had and now, to strip away more, is just unconscionable.
“Fostering the Future,” which aims to support young people aging out of the foster-care system, is paired with an effort to put the religious rights of people who wish to foster above the civil rights of L.B.G.T.Q.+ youth.

The first day of school in LA & I gave my kids copies of their passports to keep with them. Our beloved, hard-working teachers have to stand outside school ready to defend & protect kids because ICE violently (& mistakenly) detained a kid at gunpoint on Monday. #ICE #Fascism #LAUSD #AreWeGreatYet?

In the heartbreaking event that someone you know has been detained by a federal immigration agent, you'll need to know what steps to take to locate them and hopefully, get some money on their books, and hopefully be able to advocate for them.

BREAKING: A few minutes ago, a vehicle of three people was rammed by a truck belonging to federal immigration authorities in Boyle Heights, CA. According to security footage shown to me, they deployed chemical munitions & detained the driver at gunpoint. All are US citizens according to the wife.

I was there. Totally peaceful. Music. People with kids in strollers. People walking their dogs. When we arrived at MDC, organizers quickly got everyone onto the sidewalk. With no warning, no order to disburse, flash bangs were thrown & tear gas fired. Ambulance was called for someone. #protest #LA

This was, indeed, Kelvin's plane. He was incarcerated upon arrival in El Salvador. We are pursuing all options to help him.
