I got CCTV footage from the Kryvy Rih restaurant Russia said it bombed on Friday to kill Ukrainian military top brass. There were no officers there, & the restaurant was not directly hit by the bomb, which was a cluster bomb, illegal & tactically inappropriate

From my experience most media devote far less time to writing headlines than they should, and far inferior Human Resources, and reporters often have to call up their newsrooms in fury to have them urgently changed

Zelensky didn't spell this out, but the risk of Ukrainian miltech falling into the wrong hands if it takes to selling weapons to help fund the war effort is a major topic of discussion here in Kyiv. It almost sounds like a veiled threat... But I honestly don't think that's how he meant it. 6/

that Ukraine (along with Russia) is developing terrifying weaponry at breakneck speed because it's engaged in a hot war and this is dangerous for the whole world, and basically the world should stop the war by squeezing the Russian economy to death, then sit down and talk it all over. 5/

Who is most urgently engaged in this arms race? Russia & Ukraine. In listing some of Ukraine's technological advances Zelensky was careful to blame Russia - "we had no choice [but to develop these formidable weapons] to protect our right to life", he said... but what the argument boils down to is 4/

What rules govern their use? What if they fall into the hands of cartels, terrorists, other bad actors? Plenty of people have rightly remarked that while war is always the driver of military technology, it is never the right moment to discuss ethics and rules of that technology's use. 3/
