I quit X and came here to get back to following Habs posts and away from the MAGA, PP, racist, fascist nonsense. If I see political posts and reposts from your account, I may unfollow you. Nothing personal, just no interest in going back down that rabbit hole.

I like power play units with two defensemen, especially offensively gifted ones, but I don't think the Habs are going to play two D on a unit... At least not unit 1.

Big project. That said, I think Marty just wants to be able to play him 5v5 without that being a defensive issue, so that's a decent hunch.

Dali is my favorite artist.

While I agree the Habs need to change up the PP units (or at least give the current second unit more time), let's keep in mind going 2 for 10 is still 20%. Had they scored one more, it's 30%. Nitpicking is probably a good way to describe it this early into the season.

I'd hate to trade him. But I do expect he would fetch more than many outside the fan base think he's worth.

As much as I like Xhekaj and want the Habs to hold on to him, he's well down the depth chart and it's only his physical presence (for now) keeping him ahead of Struble and eventually Engstrom, etc.
gullpondguy.bsky.social
He may eventually (if they keep him). Let's not forget he's still a young D with not a lot of NHL experience yet.

Sure but 11 mins for a sixth defenseman who doesn't play special teams - when you have two units capable of eating up 25 mins each, isn't that unusual. I doubt we see a Xhekaj's minutes creep into the 15 minute zone any time soon on this D core.

Carrier plays the PK. With so much special teams last night I don't think it was that unusual that your sixth defenseman was going to have a lower total time on ice than usual.
gullpondguy.bsky.social
If you're just looking at ice time, maybe. But remember the Habs had 10 power plays, and killed maybe three or four more, so Xhekaj playing over 11 minutes is probably normal given the circumstances.

I lived in Qatar for two years (my wife three+) and did business with Qatar for more than a decade. Qataries are good people. I knew a number of Al Thanis (Royal family), and all were good people. This base might not be what many are thinking.

You mean this isn't from the '90s?

Some of this is obviously opportunity. I'm not saying Laine has been "good" but given where he's been in the lineup and how little PP time he's gotten, I wouldn't say he's been bad either. A Laval kid could replace him 5v5, but not on the PP if they used him there.

Totally fair observation.

Good for contract negotiations too.

Before the season started I wondered how much he'd want on a new deal. Now I wonder what they can get for him by the deadline or earlier). I like him and am willing to give him time, but kids in Laval are knocking.
gullpondguy.bsky.social
Holy... Tell him to watch the game again.

I would agree to an extent. I saw at one point (maybe 5v3) Marty loaded up with a PP similar to last year. Then finally he put PP2 out first (needs to happen more often). But 2 or 3 for 10 is what is expected in this league. They needed to score 5v5.
gullpondguy.bsky.social
Everyone focusing on the Habs having 10 power plays and not making light work of Chicago. But 2 for 10 is 20%. Score once more and it's 30%. But the key is they drew 10 penalties, and probably deserved another PP. The fact they are drawing penalties is a cause for optimism.

Ok. Not in an aquarium... I guess I should read the threads before commenting.

Plecky's are great. I remember I got one to clean the algae off the glass... Then he filled the tank with poop constantly! Hardy though. As were the Silver Dollars. Had clown fish, eels, sharks, tetras, a (fresh water) lobster, so maybe a crawfish... Was a nice feature in the house at the time.

I learned so much back in the day from a site/forum called Fish Geeks. Before too long, I was one of the members people asked for advice. But I haven't owned fish in a long time.

Do you have Silver Dollar fish? I planted hundreds of dollars of plants once. Next morning everything was chopped down... Noticed Silver Dollars eating the stems! Nevermind the leaves!!
