Give me a book on the porch with birds chirping and I'm happy. Daughters, a granddaughter, husband and the dog. 🧢⚾️🐦

Sorting stuff into albums, I found my favorite Hummingbird video. It was in September 2022 not long before they migrated south. I did actually live outside that month. 🪶🌱 #birds #FlowerReport

Great Shearwater leaving a tiny track where it dipped (sheared) a wingtip in the water. South Atlantic off #Argentina 🪶🦑

For #Twosday here are 2 scared little Chipping Sparrows. In between rain showers the feeders were busy until the rain returned. Then I spotted these Chippers. As 5 minutes went by I realized they must have frozen after hearing a predator. Then a hawk landed by the road and left with lunch.😬🪶

Who is that? It's s Ruby- crowned Kinglet! That's not who I thought I saw through the #DirtyWindowFilter™️ on this rainy morning! There's been one chattering in the wild area beside our yard for a couple of weeks. 🪶

A striking comparison for #TwosDay. A Great Egret looking like a giant next to a Snowy Egret.

I'm going to complain about these birds staying out of sight the last couple of days while being heard on Merlin. These are pictures from last November when I was spoiled by their presence.
Pine Warbler, Pine Siskin, Orange Crowned Warbler and a Yellow Rumped Warbler. 🪶

Took a detour on my way home from the city today to look for snowy owls and lucked into one just before sunset. They're such beautiful birds. #birds 🌿

If I ever knew how to search for a post of mine by date I've forgotten.... instructions would be appreciated. (I'm using a phone or tablet.)

A Carolina Wren enjoys a suet feeder unlike most other birds. 🪶

The morning glare on the leaves made it impossible to see who was in the feeder. It was more Chipping Sparrows! The sun was reflecting on so many birds wings as they swirled between trees it was beautiful! 🪶

Fun story: my dad was holding my then-1-yr-old on his lap, and we were all sitting in the grass at a park when suddenly a chipmunk darted towards us and went under my dad's legs and a dang barred owl ALSO forced himself under there. My dad said he felt the talons through his jeans. (No one was hurt)

Good night! The last time I went back out right after dark the were 11 tiny tree frogs on the porch. They don't like it when the light comes on, but I had to bring something in. 🐸

Today's #BirdOfTheDay from @alan678.bsky.social is #warblers of any kind. Last winter we had the Pine Warbler on the left and an Orange Crowned Warbler on the right of the suet feeder. 🪶

When I started to look at bird posts I heard an owl! I've heard two calling to each other before but this time it was alone. I quickly stood in the front door until Merlin showed it was a Barred Owl. 🪶

Look who discovered the suet feeder! Carolina Wrens have always loved it, but this year's kids haven't been eating it. The Downey Woodpeckers have been around since it was put up. 🪶
