One thing I absolutely love about the novel is that it doesn't hide how utterly tedious true narcissists really are just to keep the story engaging. So much of this book is him describing wardrobes in mind-numbing detail. He's empty inside, so being in his mind is like being in a vacuum.
Brutal, fascinating, bleakly funny. American Psycho is less a plot than a deep dive into Bateman’s warped mind. Repetitive at times, but unforgettable as satire and character study. The movie feels like Pixar next to this. #AmericanPsycho #BookReview #BretEastonEllis
