Genetics aside (a few edits does not a species make), species also interact with their kin and environment. These pups have no relatives to impart dire wolf behaviours, and will never interact with their natural habitat that is North America 100,000 years ago. They were red & more dog than wolf!

Yesterday I attended @smclondon.bsky.social's 'Introduction to the News Media'. The best part was the journalists' panel I thought. 400 emails a day? 4 hours to write an article? And they want more scientists reaching out to them! This is how good & accurate science can get communicated 🤝
