Quick reminder to everyone that my pronouns are they/them ONLY.

I am aware of how I present, but I am not a woman, nor have I ever been, nor will I ever be.

Anyone who is being intentionally disrespectful will be immediately blocked and forgotten. 🧡
living in LA during the winter is just like living anywhere else, it’s 72F post-solstice and sometimes an apocalyptic wall of noise makes you look up to see a tree with parrots for leaves, just totally normal and universal things

In 1980, Roger Rager raced in the Indy 500 with a repurposed school bus engine block. He didn’t win (placed 23rd after spinning out) but he did place 10th fast qualifying! Even qualifying at all was an impressive feat, and he went down in history for his boldness and creativity

There’s a mushroom that drips a black inky substance as it ages, melting from the outside in. It has many names, but my favourite is “tippler’s bane”. It’s helpfully descriptive, because while technically edible, they’re poisonous when consumed with alcohol. 🍄‍🟫

One of the first live-action dubs I recorded entirely from my closet during the quarantine times was a Spanish dub based on true events about the depth of corruption in FIFA.

Dunno why that popped into my head, must be nostalgia or something

A great way to support and strengthen your voice is by doing straw phonation exercises!

Blowing air through a small straw while vocalizing pushes air back into your larynx and forces the muscles around your vocal cords to relax. Blowing bubbles into your drink can help, too! 🧋🧡

Not much can survive outer space— but tiny animals called tardigrades, or water bears, can!

These lil guys can be found all over the world, can withstand all kinds of extremes, and can even emit light to protect themselves from UV! It’s like a light version of a natural sunscreen! ☀️

Target and Starbucks are boycotts that I personally find easy since I rarely shop at either place anyway— but as the holidays close in, it’s more important than ever to hold out on these greedy corporations.

Always a good reminder: we vote every day with our money, by where we choose to spend it.🪧💰
Beginning Monday, a Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate drink will be available exclusively at Starbucks cafés inside Target stores.

The chains are hoping the drink can drum up excitement from customers this holiday season.

You can still support authors when you buy secondhand or borrow from a library!

Book’s always checked out? Library buys another copy. Selling super fast? Shop knows what to look for and how to price it.

Authors can still benefit even when you’re not able to buy directly! 🧡📚

Did you know there’s a worm that can have 1000 butts and it doesn’t even eat?
It lives inside of sea sponges and our best guess is that it’s somehow able to absorb nutrients from the water around it.
Pirates coulda been nabbin sea sponges for extra booty all this time, who knew 🫧🪱

Hershey chocolate bars are a pretty popular Halloween candy! But did you know that the man behind the bar, Milton Hershey, funded their invention by selling a caramel business?
Hershey Chocolate was his 5th try at launching a sweets company— and only the 2nd to see *sweet* success.🍫

Due to the high calcium content of marble dust, folks in the 1800s used to use it to make carbonated water!

Back then they were trying all sorts of ways to make water bubbly, and the dust byproduct from cutting marble helped create chemical reactions that did the trick 🫧🧡

Leather is made through a process called tanning, where acidic tannins change the skin’s protein structure to preserve it.

This happens naturally in peat bogs, where sphagnum mosses secrete tannins. Perfectly preserved bog corpses often appear in local folklore near peat bogs! 🧌🌱

Every industry has its own language, right? In food service we say “86” and “corner”, on film sets it’s “points” and “tilt”— science does it, too. And it’s not always easy to understand even when you know the lingo.

These two are amazing translators, though. Very excited to learn from them here! ✨

Hey just another reminder for folks:
The birthday listed for me online is incorrect. I prefer this; it makes me uncomfortable when strangers know such personal things about me.

Unless you know me personally, please don’t tag/message me on whatever day you think it is. It’s not, anyway. Thanks! 🧡

The US state of Georgia is known officially as “The Peach State”— but it’s actually a much larger producer of peanuts and blueberries than of peaches! South Carolina & California have it beat on that front.

Blueberries tend to thrive in GA’s more acidic red clay (Utisol) soils! 🫐

Jane Goodall contributed truly so much to science— she taught us that other animals use tools, have emotions, deserve empathy. That animal+human rights are inextricably linked, as are kindness+conservation.

Her curiosity and patience gave us a deeper understanding of the world! 🧡

Pencil lead is actually a mix of graphite & clay! It’s called ‘lead’ because when graphite was first discovered, it was mistaken as lead and the name stuck.

Ever had to use a #2 pencil for class? The number grades the hardness of the graphite, #2 just means it’s good for writing! ✏️
