Godot represents the future where the engine belongs to you and you're free to do whatever you want in the most exciting creative medium to have ever existed in the history of humanity
TL;DR Unity -> Godot transition: after 13 years in unity, it took me 4-6 weeks of getting adjusted, and now i’ll never go back. it has quirks, like other engines. there’s bugs. but it’s free, basically equally capable, and well reported issues get fixed quicker than in unity (sometimes within hours)

Prototyping a grid-based 2D puzzle game using Godot's GridMap. So far so good, instead of designing the levels in code/config, it's possible to design them in the editor instead and then reconstruct the grid representation

The new godot UI theme has been merged and is on its way to be the new default!

I consider godot to be one of the most important software projects of our time and it's a huge privilege to be able to contribute to it. Happy to see it grow and be used for increasingly ambitious games and apps ❤️

What’s the trade off between file size + memory use vs quality like? My thinking is that to capture this level of detail, a bump in resolution is needed.

Also, am I right in assuming this would work in Compatibility rendering mode?

Haha yes, the death is quite stiff at the moment.

Quick prototype: Fly a plane and don't get hit by the wind turbines! More danger, more points.

No install needed, play in your phone browser. Let me know what you think.

Amazing, looking forward to both changes landing.

I recall enabling directional light maps doubles the memory and file size, I wonder if enabling specular will add more or all the information needed is already available of directional is enabled.

Godot may get approximate specular light from baked directional lightmaps, which is huge

Thanks for explaining. Have you always used Trenchbroom for level editing? I’m using Blender and wonder how the workflow compares

That’s a great idea

How do you make sure it’s always reachable?

Ah, is this similar to interior shaders

Thanks, I tried taking a look online but couldn’t find it :( I’m sure many would find it useful

This looks great. Is this a custom build of Godot?

Amazing, thanks for doing this! I’ve always relied on increasing the super sampling setting to make it somewhat better.
