I am so weak for characters that (at least at some point) despise themselves/think of themselves as monsters or horrible people while being literally the very best of them all 😭

I never expected to love The Summer Hikaru Died as much as I do... But it's such a unique and important and emotional and touching and heartfelt story AND it's openly queer and I can't even express how happy it makes me that a story like this exists 🥹💖
Also, the art is absolutely gorgeous 😌

海外のファンの方は凄く考察してくれて楽しいです。ですが、「ヒカル（怪物）は光（人間）の隠していた気持ちを代弁しているだけで、ヒカル（怪物）に意思はない」というのは明確にNOです！私は怪物好きなので。

アニメ最終話のヒカルのセリフ「おれはよしきが大好きや」ではその後「恋愛でも友情でもない」と続きます。
他者との深い結びつきが全て「恋愛or友情」のどちらかに振り分けられる必要は無いと思っているので、怪物のヒカルの気持ちに関しては一貫してそのように描いています。

一方で、様々なキャラクターの間で明確に恋愛である部分や友情である部分もしっかり決めて描いています。

クィアの物語を一般誌で売るのはかなり大変だと思います。分厚い壁が何枚もあり、この作品がアニメ化までしてもらえたのは奇跡的です。色んな人の大変な尽力と、マイノリティの物語だからといって低く見積ったり限界を決めたりせずに応援してくれた読者さんたちのおかげだと思います。

なんかブルースカイで語るのがこういうことばかりで恥ずかしいですが。

I thought this song was a tshd song at first (when I hadn't finished the show yet) because I found it on a tshd playlist.
It's not, but I sure associate it with it, and it's such a lovely song, I love the combination of upbeat with slightly melancholic vibes 🥹
