Reading-editing-writing: in the "ruckus" business. Sometimes angry. Loves late nights, NWSL, stompy boots, puns, big stories, octopodes, snacks, pajamas. Swipes right for Oxford comma. Let's gum up the works. she/her 💫🪐🌈⛈️🚉🦕🦞🐙🪼🌮🗽🌋🗻🚀🎢🧳🎆📚🐸

It's game night in America and the Portland Frogs are leading the series 5-0 against the National Iceholes. We've seen several bad calls, but it's pretty clear that the Frogs are undeterred going into the quarterfinals. #NoKings
I was actually so intrigued by Kristi Noem's lack of familiarity with the truth that I produced a mug as well (words out if you're a lefty).
Opinion: If she had any integrity, she would already have done that. Stop making excuses for people.
This is why I never give you any money, no matter how hard you grovel.

What in the AI is that kid supposed to be reading?
Ooh, let's see the attendance sheet. Daily. That is a FREE idea for the social media team.
Then stand up and block everything they're doing. No bipartisanship, no bending. Look where bending got us.

No negotiating with traitors, liars, and thieves.

For Prime Day, I encourage searching for very cold items and reporting these "parodies" that can be purchased to impersonate officers. So far, my efforts haven't helped much, but if we all do it, I won't have to know 200+ people have already bought e.g. fake IDs.

I think you're going to have to sue. And then there's going to need to be some guardrails for next time, codified in law. Good luck out there.
I have a lot of thoughts about publishing industry finances, which can be summarized as the whole thing needs to shut down and start over, probably.
And that's not even a publishing thing, but the effects are certainly accelerated when the market size is small to begin with and buyers are resistant to price bumps. (Someone a few years back noted that if book pricing had tracked inflation, you'd pay ~$40 US for an adult hardcover.)
I'm old enough to remember when they cut off buyers who weren't libraries; sometimes you need to go with the business you can do well, other times you're spiraling down. This does suck generally, but not surprisingly, because what's left of the margins is claimed by investors.
Distribution is THE under-reported story in book publishing (outside of the trade publications) and losing B&T is going to have untold ripple effects on the industry, small presses, and authors.
Anna Bower's live threads of these kinds of hearings are probably my very favorite for describing what's happening + giving context (and that's not easy on the fly). Sometimes you can listen in to these things, but not always.

(TRO = temporary restraining order.)
HAPPENING NOW: Emergency hearing before Judge Karin Immergut on Trump's effort to circumvent her temporary restraining order re: Oregon national guard deployment.

I plan to listen in for @lawfaremedia.org.

Follow along (court remote access technology permitting...) ⬇️🧵
It could be about more things. Might as well hold out for democracy and rights, you know?
What if you call them up and assign them to trash duty before he does. Easy peasy.
Who was involved in doing this? Sounds like a violent extremist gang that should be stopped and severely punished. In fact, the government should stop the perpetrators.
Are you not out here BEGGING for money and wondering why we won't donate to this pile of steaming offal? Fix yourself.
Sorry, folks. I just can't work up a big reaction to this. At least people who read less than 2 books per year will probably hear about it and maybe think about buying a book. Maybe it'll be yours.

I'd totally buy a book infused with nutmeg, cinnamon, mint, or cardamom, though.
I'm not up for this GOP shitdown
