Great to see the Chancellor on her visit to Sipsmith Distillery in Chiswick today to celebrate the success of the UK–India trade deal, which is due to generate 7,000 jobs across the UK, including 2,591 in London. Read more about the visit here: www.chiswickw4.com/default.asp?....

Great news today from the Mayor that violent crime leading to injury is down in every London borough. Including by 8.8% in Hammersmith & Fulham and 11.5% in Hounslow.

Violent crime with injury is down in every London borough thanks to the collective efforts of the police and London's Violence Reduction Unit.

But one death or one crime is one too many - so we’ll keep working with partners and the government to drive down crime and make London safer for everyone.
Graphic with a black textured background and bold yellow and white text. At the top is a white ‘Mayor of London’ lodo and a yellow box that says ‘Update.’ Main text reads: ‘Violent crimes resulting in injury have fallen in every borough in the 12 months ending August 2025 compared to the previous 12 months.’ Small text at the bottom: ‘Source: MPS recorded crime data.’

Another wonderful day out at Chiswick Dog Show at the weekend, delighted to have been asked back to judge for the second year in a row. It was also great to catch up with Blue Cross, who I visited in Hammersmith in August, at their stall.

My statement on the formal recognition of the Palestinian state.

I welcome the announcement from the Prime Minister that the UK now recognises the Palestinian state.

This is a significant and important step that sets out our intended future relationship with the Middle East – one where there is a secure Israel and Palestinian state, including Gaza and the West Bank under the control of Palestinians.

However, there can be no two-state solution if there is no viable state left to call Palestine.

The horrific and ongoing killing of so many innocent civilians in Gaza is appalling and heartbreaking, and this intentional destruction of Palestinian life in Gaza cannot go on. There must be an immediate return to a ceasefire.

Hostages held in appalling conditions must be released without delay, much needed aid let in and the people of Gaza should be able to return to what is left of their homes and start rebuilding their shattered lives.

Mourning the death of my friend Iain Coleman. Iain was MP for Hammersmith and Fulham 1997-2005 and Leader of Hammersmith and Fulham Council 1991-96. A man of infinite compassion and great political skill, but best remembered as someone who just made life interesting and fun.

Some hope among the tragedy and bloodshed in Palestine as Britain joins Canada, Australia and France in recognising the State of Palestine.

Proud to see Ambassador Husam Zomlot raise the Palestinian flag over his Embassy here in Hammersmith yesterday.

It was great to be at the official opening of the new Chiswick Health Centre last week. A very impressive new NHS building incorporating 3 GP practices, a range of NHS services and community space for residents to enjoy.

The troubling findings of Baroness Harman’s independent review of bullying, harassment & sexual harassment are primarily for the Bar itself & for the judiciary to address, but I asked if the Government support the recommendations & what can they do to ensure they are implemented.

A great day out at Tidefest on Sunday! It was brilliant to see so many people enjoying the Thames and being able to do so safely thanks to the huge efforts that have gone into cleaning it up and keeping it free of pollution and rubbish.

The Govt are rightly recruiting new probation officers to fulfil the new responsibilities under the sentencing bill. Yesterday, I asked how we are going to fill the shortage of 10,000 probation officers recently reported by the BBC 👇

🛩 "Framing opposition to major projects or developments, whether from local residents, environmental experts or elected representatives as 'blockers' is unhelpful."

Hammersmith MP Andy Slaughter on why he is opposed to Heathrow expansion
'Heathrow third runway is the wrong answer to the wrong question' - LabourList
Britain’s future prosperity depends not on more tarmac, but on leadership that prioritises sustainability, community well-being, and inclusive economic renewal.

I have long opposed Heathrow expansion. Arguments for a third runway claim to support growth and national interest, yet ignore the realities of our climate obligations, public health, and the long-term wellbeing of west London communities.

For our work, our team are often out and about meeting MPs.

Last week we met our local MP @hammersmithandy.bsky.social to talk about some of the challenges older people on a low income face and policy solutions that could help.
