Biochemist excited about fluorescent proteins, multiplexed imaging and SOFI.
PhD at Université Paris Saclay, currently postdoc in @dedeckerlab.bsky.social at KU Leuven.
Big fan of science communication.
I stumbled over article: Sex at birth is not always random — mum’s age and genetics can play a part.
Wow, that is really interesting.

...but actually the study doesn’t look at the influence of male partners.
Isn't that important??!

Families with three or more boys, for example, are more likely to have another boy than a girl as the next child.

Happy to see my Postdoc work out @natbiotech.nature.com. Using HaloTag and synthetic fluorophores instead of FPs enables us to shift the spectral properties of kinase activity reporters (KARs) to the far-red 🔬. Huge thanks to everyone involved @jinzhanglab.bsky.social!

Hello science friends on bluesky!
After many years of doing molecular biophysics and optics/microscopy, I just want to share that I'm leaving science and academia next month. I don't have concrete plans for my next step yet so I might just take a break for a while but we shall see how things go.

#Kinderuniversiteit2024 was a lot of fun ! In our workshop "How does DNA look like?" 🧬, the kids extracted DNA from strawberries and build their own DNA model from marshmallows (they didn't last long). Thanks a lot to Iris Govaerts and Valerie de Groote ! 🙂
