Well. One thing I can say is that now the story I am most interested in in baseball is not who wins the World Series but what is Orion Kerkering doing when that happens and, crucially, how’s he doing

One of my favorite thing in baseball is when the broadcast talks about how the manager should be feeling some sort of big feeling and then they cut to a totally stoic man spitting seeds or blowing gum bubbles
hannahrkeyser.bsky.social
this is barely worth saying because it's such an understandable reaction! but we all gotta remember that there are literally millions of examples of teams winning a game and then losing three in a row or losing a game and winning six in a row or any number of wins followed by any number of loses
hannahrkeyser.bsky.social
i say this without snark and certainly with some not small amount of hypocrisy: feels like a lot of postseason analysis is 'whichever team won most recently is going to win the series'

Aaron Judge was great. Aaron Judge is out. Wrote about the best hitter of the generation, and how the playoffs do and don't affect that assessment. bandwagon.substack.com/p/81-aaron-j...

In the most recent Bandwagon, I shared this very good shirt and hat from a pasta place near my hometown. My dad then showed them the newsletter and we proceeded to have perhaps the most representative text exchange of his Phillies fandom.

It’s a Division Series update from me and @hannahrkeyser.bsky.social at The Bandwagon.

On the Trajekt tech that might have made the Yankees (a little) less helpless against the Blue Jays, pitch-tipping paranoia and more. bandwagon.substack.com/p/80-paranoi...

here's something different: I wrote about the women of the Harlem Globetrotters. How they pack, train, and approach motherhood while playing against and alongside men. www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/ar...

"The resignations, which they said would take effect on Oct. 13, were accepted immediately and left two of the newspapers with one reporter each, and a third without any journalists on staff, they said."

ooofff.

@ emotional mariners fan, can we talk to you at the bandwagon?

“We were once exceptional, people who beat the creative odds. We’d emerged victorious over the consistent urging to pursue a real career, a real-person job. Quickly, we’ve become a class of cautionary tales. The exceptionalism swings the other way, now.”

Yesterday I walked straight into a glass wall at work. Gave myself a black eye and 4 stitches. Day 4 of the new job, and causing HR to fill out accident reports.

Every song I’ve ever heard sounds the same to me until I know the words. Listening to new music is the necessary grunt work I put myself through so I’m not still exercising to fall out boy
hannahrkeyser.bsky.social
How do people have opinions on music so quickly (complimentary).

If I trip and eat it, like hit the ground, I’m done for the day. I might be done for tomorrow. Professional athletes are insane.

Yeah, I know, I should have posted that half an inning ago

This pitching matchup is a microcosm of the paradox of modern major league pitching: the pitching is all too good, there’s not enough pitching.

ok yeah just imagine that stanton is reacting to this stanton
