Most Chinese audiences prefer the 1994 series over the 2010 series, which has a mixed reception.

Every episode has like two or more scenes that feel instantly iconic it's so good.
Shut up, Lu Bu.
Lu Bu: "I've never been a man of war," Lu Bu: "but I've always been a mediator."

I'm about halfway through the #historical #cdrama Ming Dynasty in 1566 (the drama came out in 2007) and am glad I got round to watching it! Wow, the script is jaw-dropping and acting excellent. The political machinations of the court and officialdom grip you from the start!

Another sketch of one of the characters from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms 1994 series. This is the first actor for Lu Su who, I feel, gets bullied a lot.
He's grimacing whilst telling off some one (probably Zhuge Liang) to stop being so naughty!

*Calvin dad voice* all epics are oda nobunaga or Journey to the west.

Romance of the three kingdoms? Oda Nobunaga

Odyssey? Journey to the west

Despite taking place in the west, the good, the bad, and the ugly is oda nobunaga

*this user tried too hard to make this joke work

The Oath of the Peach Garden (桃園三結義) from Romance of the Three Kingdoms tells how Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei swore to live and die as brothers. Their pledge became a timeless emblem of loyalty and unity, inspiring generations with ideals of brotherhood beyond blood.

You can also give 1994 series a try, which might explain some of the story situation better than in 2010

Professional painters from the Ningbo region in eastern China specialized in depicting Buddhist figures commissioned by monasteries in China and abroad since the Song dynasty. During the Ming period, they began to paint even more figures of the Chinese syncretic pantheon, including the Eight Immortals. This painting depicting one of them, Immortal Lü Dongbin, was most likely made in a professional workshop in eastern China. Lü Dongbin, rendered in the meticulous technique known as laborious brush whose lavish colors are typical in the work of professional painters, according to different sources lived during the Tang or Song dynasty. He became famous for his antics while trying to demonstrate supernatural powers. His attribute is the flying sword called Blue Dragon, and the pine tree under which he is situated here is a common symbol of longevity.

Notably, he was the voice of Penguin in 1966 Batman, as shown below:
