A good piece by Hebh Jamal on eliminating the "hierarchies of solidarity" between the Palestinian and Sudanese causes. She also mentions Sinthujan Varathas and Moshtari Hilal's excellent book on the subject.

Anyway, in my new essay, I point out that the anti-Politics of Star Wars is resonating in America, and the movie needed sane centrists who could push the rebels and empire to listen to each other and engage in democratic coalition building, instead of glorifying political violence
Theres a movie review essay that was written by a MENA focused political scientist on how recent films showcase political violence.....that somehow manages to be an essay with minimal grounding in American politics, history or cinema...

I know nuance dies on here, but FFS, there is a lot of criticisms you can have of Shara'a: His authoritarian rule in Idlib, how he handled the coast + Sweida, etc. Hell even his former affiliation with AQ. But if you're calling him the ISIS dude in Syria, you're just idiotic
