@hariprasad.bsky.social
serial typo maker. Researches ME/SA politics and political violence. mainly here for da memes. Apparently, a prominent person. Usual disclaimers
Check out my latest piece for @csohate.bsky.social on how the cauliflower meme, a coded call for promoting anti-Muslim violence among the fringe trad movement, has increasingly become adopted by politicians.

Okay cool after I posted this,
@thebrownexperience.bsky.social helpfully uploaded a video breaking it down.
Yeah folks are stupid and people need to have their podcast equipment and phones taken away.

A good piece by Hebh Jamal on eliminating the "hierarchies of solidarity" between the Palestinian and Sudanese causes. She also mentions Sinthujan Varathas and Moshtari Hilal's excellent book on the subject.

Sudan & Palestine: We must break hierarchies of solidarity
Hebh Jamal explains why the inability to view the Sudanese genocide independently from Gaza’s is dehumanizing & counterproductive to global solidarity.

Trying to keep up with this whole Akaash Singh's wife drama....if I'm understanding it right...she's getting blowback for not being a virgin when she married Akaash, and she allegedly makes jokes about him and tells sex stories? Like atm the whole thing just screams "we're insecure men"

Anyway, in my new essay, I point out that the anti-Politics of Star Wars is resonating in America, and the movie needed sane centrists who could push the rebels and empire to listen to each other and engage in democratic coalition building, instead of glorifying political violence
Theres a movie review essay that was written by a MENA focused political scientist on how recent films showcase political violence.....that somehow manages to be an essay with minimal grounding in American politics, history or cinema...

Anytime I feel kind of sad on the state of brown representation in the US...I just take a look at the UK and go well shit atleast we got time to prevent us from becoming that crazy.

This was the first case that gave us a taste of what "Naya India" would be. Disgraceful

I know nuance dies on here, but FFS, there is a lot of criticisms you can have of Shara'a: His authoritarian rule in Idlib, how he handled the coast + Sweida, etc. Hell even his former affiliation with AQ. But if you're calling him the ISIS dude in Syria, you're just idiotic

Its still wild to me that Tucker Carlson was promoting white nationalist and anti-Semitic shit for years, including when he was in Fox News...but he's getting blowback from the rest of the conservative movement now for mainstreaming Nick Fuentes and openly being anti-Israel

Episode 2, and still they haven't passed the bechdel test
All's Fair: a show with terrible writing, questionable acting, incredulous pacing decisions, the most vapid form of faux feminism I've ever seen on screen, and minimal to zero character development.

I love it

If Desi parents expectations weren't enough, now brown boys might not be able to go on Hinge without matches asking if you're the next potential Zohran Mamdani 😭
November 8, 2025 at 11:54 PM
Was waiting for Shekhar Gupta to commission a "as a Muslim....Mamdani actually needs to answer for everything bad a Muslim person has done" piece as the good "liberal" he is

If you ever feel you're suffering from imposter syndrome, just remember there are "academics" who can't comprehend the title of the book, let alone be bothered to read said book, or take 5 minutes to look the authors corpus before making these bold claims.

This shit slaps hard if you're dumb

An awesome short documentary about the Kushti wrestlers in Kolhapur who struggle to keep the artform alive while contending with a world focusing on more "modern" grappling.

NYC city is an anomaly, but Dems making huge gains in Virginia, Michigan, California, Mississippi, and other states....is proof that we actually need to become more RW and forget about marginalized people. On this podcast with Ezra Klein and Matt Yglesias, we will...

My own personal politics aside (and hell yeah im a leftist supporter), its hard not to feel joy and pride after being a Desi boy raised in the US after 9/11 and experiencing all the racist bullshit, just to see a South Asian Muslim Socialist win the mayorship.

New Performative Male (ultramasculine edition) just dropped. Excellent analysis by @hampton.bsky.social on the lineage of Kash Patel's challenge coin
Another new blog post up at WXQT!

This time, I write on Kash Patel's new(ish) challenge coin, which is indicative of how one of America's most powerful performative males crafts his visual identity (spoiler: mostly out of dudecore mainstream culture).
Performative Patel
Kash Patel's new challenge coin and the actual performative male moment. In early October, journalist Ken Dilanian posted an image of the two faces of an alleged new challenge coin issued by the dire...
