My first - and possibly last?! - published paper in a public management journal. Builds on interesting discussions facilitated by @instituteforgovernment.org.uk and @cassiarowland.bsky.social , at a prior event featuring @samfr.bsky.social, Probation Inspectorate, and many more
New paper from the @probationres.bsky.social team! We provide broad lessons from the insourcing of probation in England & Wales

1. Structural change is exhausting
2. Milestones ≠ progress
3. Legitimacy can be improved, or undermined, by structural reform

Anyone have a view on this? Maybe @samfr.bsky.social 🙏
Sense check query for anyone Education-oriented: For my (criminal justice) research, various policy makers have pointed to Education as an area that has seen a lot of bureaucracy stripped out, real improvements in that regard over the past (5? 10? 15?) years. C'est vrai?
