Minutes after this photo was taken two pairs of wellies were full of water and two pairs of socks and two pairs of trousers were saturated... It might be October but the beach is still fun. #TwinLife
"Is bear enjoying a wash?"
"No, bear doesn't like it." 😢

Winter Talks are back this month! What better way to celebrate Halloween than joining us for an evening to find out how bats evolved? (Please note this is a repeat of a previous talk, back by popular demand for those who missed out last time.) 🦇
What is the smallest ant when it's grown up, not a baby?
Possibly Carebara atoma only 1mm long they live in New Guinea, not here so we can't find it in the garden...
Glad we got that sorted.
A fun night out!
Hazards that you don't expect in rural Norfolk, we nearly caught a bongo in our harp trap! Another great night at Watatunga Wildlife Reserve. Several Nathusius' pipistrelles caught. (Video Ebonie Lambo-Hills) 🦇

Success! After nil results last week, last night on the east coast we managed to tag 10 Nathusius' pipistrelles so that we can track their movements & find out more about their migration behaviour. Thanks to our amazing team of volunteers who make this research possible. 🦇
History. Five year olds got it all worked out now. First there were dinosaurs, then there was @norwichcastle.bsky.social, then there was a war. Have confirmed dinosaurs were not still around during the war, so great-grandparents didn't have to worry about them either.
After hiding in the bottom of the magazine rack for weeks, hallelujah the octopus has been found! Words cannot describe the joy of a five year old who has been missing his crochet friend. #NICUBabies #FirstToy

Nice that Wolterton Estate is open to visitors! We have some more exploring to do... #DaysOut #Norfolk
School holidays are here and so is the rain... Puddle jumping it is. #GreatOutdoors
Think we nailed Grandad's birthday cards, Adonis blue and banded demoiselle, and importantly they are both happy. #wildlifeart
"Can we have water pistols outside please?"
"If you wait for me to get the washing in"
In that minute he has filled his pistol up with dirty puddle. Licked it. Squirted his own clean washing on the line, & me, & dog. On the bright side they came home from school muddy so they can't get any dirtier..

Purple hairstreak posing on a rose brings the garden butterfly list up to 22 species. Any new additions now will have to be something pretty unusual!
Parenting skills you didn't know you needed... Today this one lost a tooth in the bath. Tiny white tooth, vast white bath full of water... Top Daddy skills finding that one.
We have similar art! 😆 Love our starlings.

Is the new Pope Clive Myrie? No. Is the Pope a lady? No. How long does it take to drive to the Vatican? 21 & a half hours, but I think we'd need a break.
We have also dealt with questions about which cathedrals have nesting peregrines. That's the important bit. Religious education done for today...
I think these are small tortoiseshell? Nice to see as I haven't seen many around so far this year. #Butterflies

Really pleased to share the work we are doing on the Snetterton military building, an important hibernation site. We took over the lease in 2023. Sadly the site suffers from trespass and vandalism. #EastBatConf
