I think part of it is literally just that he's from Chicago. He's an American Pope, and a lot of the whitenecks also know the administration is still sheepish as hell about Vance breaking Francis' surge and effectively Bad Vibing him to death.

We're on both the verge of another Catholic Schism, and also another great Catholic Triumph if Pope Leo continues as he currently is - it's genuinely nice to see the clergy doing something that isn't horrific politically, especially in the US.
