I saw a post this morning somewhere about trying to draw an upturned chin from below and yeah - that's a tough one!

You need to rely a lot on shading the form rather than lines for this usually. Beards can be a nice cheat. 😋

Here's a few refs to try today if you want the challenge. ⭐

Picture of "Val-kun" that apparently came with a Slayers TRY drama CD, which I am posting here mainly so I can show them to my mom.
Toddler Valgaav sleeping with Filia in her dragon form. Filia's tail rests over Val's torso, and in his sleep little Val has an uncomfortable dream of being crushed by a great weight. Little Val crying while Filia scolds him, telling him about the monstrous Lina Inverse. He has broken a window playing baseball with Jillas- the ball and broken glass is on the floor, and a dismayed Jillas in a baseball cap peeks in through the window. Filia holds little Val in her arms and gently smiles as he plays with a rattle.

People will be like "oh you need AI for concept art" when in fact all that's required is a notebook and a terrible sketch, and you too can earn the ire of your production artists as they try to figure out what the hell you were trying to communicate.

It's important to have very good concept art so your production artists know what style to match. Case in point this evocative drawing from our creative director.
A finished alien-looking demonschool boss, all purple and pink, with a giant head and tentacles and things that surround the playfield. A sketch that looks like a 5 year old did it showing the same scene, with a goofy head saying "I'm huge" where the boss should be.
