During the #16Days Against Gender Based Violence we remember that violence is a workers issue.

Unions have led the fight for paid domestic violence leave, safer workplaces, and real support for frontline services. We need governments to step up and fund the protections workers deserve.

Every Canadian should be able to afford a home. But families are being priced out of their homes, out of their neighbourhoods.

This needs to change. We need to take housing back for people.

Here is my plan: www.heathermcpherson.ca/housing

Anne-José has been a tireless advocate including for French language rights and Francophones across Canada and Quebec.

The future of the NDP must include Quebec and francophone communities across Canada, including mine in Edmonton.

Anne-José a été une défenseure infatigable, notamment des droits linguistiques des francophones à travers le Canada et au Québec.L'avenir du NPD doit inclure le Québec et les communautés francophones à travers le Canada, y compris la mienne à Edmonton.

The federal government must declare a national housing emergency and invest in real solutions.

Advocates outline Sudbury's housing crisis to NDP leadership candidate
One worker says she is out of ideas to help her clients because affordable housing does not exist in Sudbury.

I really, really love a good cup of coffee!

So stopping at Salute Coffee Company while I was in Sudbury was a very good choice for an excellent cup. If you’re in Sudbury, you should stop by.

Visited Sudbury’s Miners’ Monument today. The NDP has always fought for the rights of all workers.

We need to protect good jobs and build the future, from health care to EVs, while taking real action to protect the planet. We can do both, Canada’s workers deserve nothing less.

Great discussions in Sudbury on everything from resource development, housing and Indigenous rights, to international affairs, jobs, and affordability

Every family deserves child care.

Thanks to the NDP, $10/day child care is becoming a reality.

But many parents are still on waiting lists.
@oxfamcanada.bsky.social is sounding the alarm: expand not-for-profit & public spaces, raise wages for early-childhood educators, and leave no behind.

This is not progress. It is a full-blown retreat.

A real feminist foreign policy demands concrete action on gender equality and a clear defence of the human rights of all people. Instead, Carney, just like Harper before him, has walked away from the world’s most vulnerable.

Today we remember the #Holodomor where millions of Ukrainians were starved by Stalin’s regime.

It’s heartbreaking that, generations later, Ukraine is once again fighting for survival in the face of Russian aggression. Their grief echoes across time. We remember. We mourn. We stand in solidarity.

On National Child Day I’m thinking about the kind of Canada we’re building together.

We made a promise as a country to basic fairness, dignity, and about giving every child the chance to thrive.

Every child deserves a real seat at the table.

Chandra has proven she knows how to win where we haven’t won before. She and her team have won her elections one conversation at the time.

As someone who knows a a little something about that, I deeply appreciate her support and confidence

The govt is betraying its promise to Canadians.
The minister promised new coal mine selenium regulations to protect our rivers and lakes. Now, instead of providing protection, the Liberals are allowing a dramatic increase in the pollutants going into rivers and lakes.

To all the trans kids who are hurting because of the hateful attacks from Danielle Smith, know that you belong.
You are loved.
We will fight alongside you.

I am alarmed to learn that former UN Special Rapporteur, world-renowned Professor of international law, and Jewish American citizen, Richard Falk, along his wife, legal scholar Professor Hilal Elver, were detained at the Canadian border for four hours.

It’s been a busy week!

Meeting and talking with members has me reflecting on what it means to serve, to represent, to listen, and to work together to build the Canada we all deserve. I’m excited about what’s to come!

Some highlights from the BC NDP convention. Got to see some old friends and colleagues, and speak with so many New Democrats on what they want to see the party become.
