A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER (1988) ★★½

There are decent attempts to bring back the same kind of thrills as in the third film. #RobertEnglund is far more enjoyable than his victims.

Still, a weaker story and too repetitive.

BEING MARIA ★★½

A portrait of #MariaSchneider’s relationship with her parents and how she turned to drugs later in the ’70s, but the film also shows how she learned to be more assertive as an artist.

Fine cast, but the drama doesn’t make much of an impact.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS (1987) ★★★½

What really excels here, and inspired its sequels, was the creative use of special effects in the nightmare scenarios; #FreddyKrueger strikes with the help of stop-motion animation, miniatures, models and a whole bag of magic tricks.

BOYFRIENDS AND GIRLFRIENDS (1987) ★★★

The final entry in #ÉricRohmer’s ”Comedies & Proverbs” series is a romantic drama that feels obvious from the start.

Still, a lightweight journey to the inevitable ending is enjoyable thanks to some of the conversations and the cast.

QUEEN CHRISTINA (1933) ★★★★

You might say this was the BRAVEHEART of its day: stirring in many ways, but complete nonsense as a history lesson.

For this movie to work, you have to view it as a romantic fantasy; #GretaGarbo and #JohnGilbert are lovely together.

This documentary illustrates why filmmaker #BoWiderberg was revered as an artist and also addresses his personal demons.

Engrossing, both as a piece of film history and as a portrait of a complex, flawed man.
