[naomi wolf about to get sharply corrected on the radio] orthodox food history tells us use of e numbers as codes for additives dates to the 1960s. however on a trip to scotland, I encountered irn bru 1901, recreated from a recipe found in the archives. and what do we find in the ingredients? e211!

phew, just finished my first day preparing the ice at the winter olympics to ensure all the figure skaters can perform their best. kind of scary for the final to be taking place just as I'm getting started but pretty sure I did a good job!

I will publish a book arguing this is true. debate will rage in the lrb and paris review about what I mean ("he challenges us to imagine a world animated by a different understanding of reality", "redraws boundaries marking modernity"). I will write in to say it was like they were going to the shops
It was believed in medieval times that hedgehogs had spikes so they could roll over fruit to carry home to their children, which is not true but is a really cute idea

not an AI guy but it is funny that lots of people indignant about how LLMs just uncritically regurgitate what they're fed are doing so by uncritically regurgitating this (when neither the paper, nor indeed the table which has a description at the top, are about jobs "at risk" of being lost to AI)
Microsoft released a study showing the 40 jobs most at risk by AI:

This tool's really powerful you know, if you keep zooming in it's amazing how granular the descriptors get

[to myself, after speaking to my viziers] ah okay one more government reset then, I am sure my wife will not mind

saw a woman in a 'make scotland great again' hat. unclear if she's a weirdo trump fan or a scottish nationalist? that's right, it's unclear if she's a fan of small minded provincialism with no understanding of fiscal and economic reality or if she's a supporter of donal.. [SHOTS RING OUT]

annoying when books contain protestations like "but this is not a facile comparison between X and Y" or "however we do not take a reductive approach to this phenomenon". you can't stipulate this! I'll be the judge thank you!
