say what you will, but Bernie consistently has crisp, accurate arguments that can reach people on both sides of the political spectrum. Look at this explainer of what's happening right now: www.instagram.com/reel/DFgAlsO...

I'm struck by the near-total failure of leadership across civil society, in a country that fetishizes the concept. Whole sections of leadership books at every bookstore. Named, endowed "leadership" institutes and curricula across higher ed. Awards and special recognition for "leaders." AND YET

I know some people soured on him because of some of his jokes, but I recommend Chapelle’s SNL monologue from this past weekend

how crazy is it that I can bookmark something (like adding to one of a million possible inboxes) and trick my brain into thinking I actually did something of value

I’ve seen some absolutely savage replies to one of Kumail’s previous tweets. Didn’t expect that type of vitriol here, and can only agree that social media has broken us as a society. What an absolute misery this whole thing is, at all levels.
Have been on Bluesky quite a bit the last two days (for info & resources) & it’s not social media that’s broken. I think it’s us that’s broken now. I’ll post about places ppl can donate because LA is in bad shape & my replies are full of “ummmm sounds like somebody’s never heard of Pompeii.”

it absolutely blows my mind that Mark Zuckerberg would openly say he's cutting down on fact checking in favor of community notes.

In some ways, I think adopting Bluesky is like walking back in time a few years.

(and that is absolutely wonderful)

I realized way too late that my username and follower count on twitter made it really hard to just be myself. None of that here.
