Henry Street is fortunate to be a robust social services agency with so many loyal supporters, but this major loss of private funding from The Art Show couldn’t come at a more challenging moment, with potential funding cuts to social services, education, and the arts. Here’s how you can help. 🧵
The fate of the Henry Street Settlement, a Lower Manhattan social services nonprofit, is up in the air after its biggest source of revenue, the ADAA annual Art Show, canceled this year’s iteration and discontinued its decades-long fundraising partnership.

Henry Street was proud to join our Lower East Side peer organizations and elected officials today to highlight the critical role SNAP plays in supporting our most vulnerable neighbors and to raise awareness about the devastating impact of the recently approved cuts.
Trump has slashed SNAP benefits for over 300k New Yorkers while driving up grocery prices and gutting funding for food banks — pushing families into food insecurity.

I joined AM Grace Lee in Manhattan’s Chinatown to highlight the devastating impact of these harmful policies on our communities.

From @cityandstateny.bsky.social: Settlement houses are owed at least $92.4 million by NYC, according to a new @unhny.bsky.social survey. Henry Street and its peer organizations often wait months, even years, to receive the funds we require to run programs such as shelters & educational services. 🧵

“Who would choose to stay in a job where they work long hours, handle life-or-death situations, and barely make enough to get by?” – Michelle Jackson @hscny.bsky.social

Nonprofit workers deserve livable wages. It doesn’t have to be this way––we can't wait for 7.8%! @governor.ny.gov

Commentary: Pay a living wage to the people who make New York livable
Nonprofits are losing human-services workers because the workers can't afford to work for such low pay. Give them a real cost-of-living adjustment.
