Honored to join @bkbpreynoso.bsky.social for his 40th annual celebration of Martin Luther King's life and legacy at @bambrooklyn.bsky.social

Hearing from civil rights leaders and Brooklyn's youth today reminds us that the road to justice is not passive.

Dr. King understood that justice doesn’t advance on its own: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

The recent arson of Beth Israel Synagogue in Jackson, Miss harkens back to the bombing of the same synagogue during the Civil Rights Movement in 1967.

You would know about manufacturing outrage, Tricia McLaughlin.

When you’re consistently caught gaslighting, victim blaming, & outright lying about the abuse we see you and DHS doing with our own eyes, you’re now trying to play the victim?

Stop targeting communities of color & start doing your job.
CNN: There's an ICE recruiting poster that says 'we'll have our home again.' That phrase has ties to white nationalist groups. Even if that's not intentional, do you denounce it?

McLAUGHLIN: 'We'll have our home again' is a white nationalist dogwhistle? There's no reason to manufacture outrage

Trump pardons criminals who steal, defraud, and bankroll his political operation. But then he uses criminal prosecution to attack Letitia James and Jerome Powell for refusing to bend to him.

When the criminal justice system becomes a political weapon of the President, the rule of law will be next.
SCOOP: Trump quietly pardoned several people this week, including:
▶️A Venezuelan-Italian banker implicated in a bribery scheme whose daughter donated $3.5M to Trump's PAC.
▶️A California woman who was freed from prison by a Trump commutation in 2021 & was then convicted in an unrelated case in 2024.

Grocery prices are rising fastest where families can least afford it, including in NYC’s lowest-income neighborhoods.

Trump’s tariffs and broken economic policies push costs up while he focuses on attacking our NATO allies and denies reality. The numbers don’t lie, Trump. Families need real relief.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Americans don’t approve of militarized, masked ICE agents using excessive, lethal force against their neighbors.
Pollster: ICE's net approval rating is at -17 points. Among independents, the number is even larger. 51% of Americans say that ICE enforcement is making cities less safe. Trump's net approval rating on immigration is way underwater, -16 points. That is a 19 point drop in less than a year's time.

Forcing journalists to pledge loyalty and flood an independent newspaper with MAGA propaganda is making Putin jealous.

This is disrespectful to our troops & undermines the First Amendment they risk their lives to protect.

Why is Sec. Hegseth so afraid of independent reporting reaching the public?

Trump’s “Great Healthcare Plan” is just another version of his “concept of a plan” — nothing more than his trademark empty promises.

His non-solution to his own healthcare crisis adds insult to injury as 15M lose health insurance thanks to his Big Ugly Bill & GOP's refusal to extend ACA subsidies.
January 17, 2026 at 3:52 PM
Trump attempted a coup following his 2020 campaign loss. Anyone who thinks his comments about “cancelling” elections are a joke is either a liar or not paying attention.

The better question is: did Trump kidnap Maduro to learn his tricks of the trade?

A federal judge blocked the Trump admin’s attempt to yet again shut down Empire Wind 1.

But Burgum and Hegseth are still stonewalling Congress and waving around secret “national security risks” they won’t explain.

At stake are 4K jobs and 500K homes powered by wind.

I’m doubling down for answers:

We were promised the “worst of the worst” would be deported, but only 5% of detainees have felony convictions. Instead, Trump is illegally deporting people with active asylum claims.

House GOP can’t ignore the law just because they don’t like it.

My Republican colleagues: You have a spine. Use it.

The circular “reasoning” of POTUS’ desire for Greenland is unacceptable.

We already have a military installation in Greenland, thanks to cooperation with allies.

If Russia threatened to seize NATO’s territory, we’d call it aggression. Trump’s posturing for Putin puts our global stability at risk.
January 15, 2026 at 11:07 PM
Let’s be honest Sec. Rubio: this isn’t about protecting taxpayers.

Immigrant visa applicants who have followed the rules, shown financial statements, and waited for years have already proven they won’t be a “public charge.”

This policy is racism and xenophobia dressed up as economic concern.

While the Trump administration abruptly terminated thousands of mental health and addiction grants, Congress fought back.

Proud to join @reppaultonko.bsky.social in successfully stopping this recklessness to protect crucial funding and lifesaving resources for those in NY-10 and across the country.
Last night, the Trump administration took a chainsaw to billions of $$$ in mental health and addiction treatment grants that were already approved by Congress.

I led 100 members in a bipartisan letter demanding this lifesaving funding be restored immediately.

Relieved that another judge saw through Trump’s political stunts to kill offshore wind — this time in NY-10.

Empire Wind can move forward with its $5B project that will power 500K homes.

I'll keep fighting to make sure this project gets done so we can lower energy costs & reduce climate change.
A federal judge ruled that construction on a wind farm off the coast of New York could resume, a setback for the Trump administration’s effort to stop the project.
Empire Wind Project Can Resume Construction, Judge Rules
A federal judge said the Empire Wind project off Long Island would suffer “irreparable harm” if the Trump administration continued to hold up work.

It’s telling that Bondi is more willing to investigate a reporter doing her job as part of the free press than she is to pursue any of the corruption happening under her nose by admin officials.

This admin is eroding First Amendment protections in an effort to apply it only to views they support.
Investigators told the reporter that she is not the focus of the probe.

The warrant said law enforcement was investigating a system administrator in Maryland who has been accused of taking home classified intelligence reports. https://wapo.st/4qULbi9

We saw this coming: Trump and Stephen Miller are sending masked, untrained ICE agents into cities with orders to use force and incite violence.

They are deliberately creating chaos in order to threaten the Insurrection Act and usurp more power.

We’re not fooled.

Today we remember Michelle Go, whose life was tragically taken in an unprovoked subway attack 4 years ago.

Her memory compels us to fix our broken mental health infrastructure & support those in crisis who too often go untreated. My bipartisan Michelle Go Act serves to honor her & close those gaps.

While ICE’s abuses escalate nationwide, I applaud the State for stepping up to defend our neighbors and our rights.

@governor.ny.gov’s proposals are a necessary response to ensure accountability for the Trump administration’s atrocities and set clear boundaries on federal overreach.

Yet again, the Trump admin is making its priorities clear: Polluters over people.

Republicans would rather give kickbacks to corporations than to protect the millions of Americans at risk for asthma, heart disease, and premature death from exposure to airborne chemicals.

With $50k bonuses and ridiculous quotas, it is not a surprise that ICE's hiring process under @Sec_Noem is haphazard and dangerous.

Maybe this is what she meant by getting “the worst of the worst.”

Republicans tried to legalize wage theft by calling real work "job training" and allowing employers to dodge paying workers overtime.

@housedemocrats.bsky.social defeated this bogus anti-worker bill and will always stand for fair pay for all Americans.

ICE denied me entry into their detention facility at 26 Fed for my weekly, unannounced oversight visit, citing Sec. Noem’s "new" policy requiring 7 days’ notice.

A court has already ruled that members have a statutory right to conduct oversight, but DHS has concocted a bogus reason to keep us out.

The bravery of the Iranian people in standing up against the violent oppression of their government is both an inspiration and a chilling reminder of the regime’s brutality.

The Islamic Republic is committed to wiping out western democracy, with the United States as its No. 1 enemy.
