An Evening of Poetry

I went to an open mic evening
Just the other night
I wondered if it was me
Or was it that the poetry was shite

There wasn’t any humour
There wasn’t any wit
Nobody made the effort to rhyme
It was poetry, if poetry was shit

Its all very well
Writing excessive explanatory prose
With the intonation of I’ve written a poem
But it’s talking in poetry clothes

Maybe I’m just old and bitter
And jealous nobody gives me time
As all theses poets get published
And not a single bit of it, a rhyme
