Like I'm gonna try to be better but it's hard to be "better" when you just say "do better" and don't offer alternatives?? On how to do that??? And I don't know how to do better!!

Which leads me to is this a "I need to step back and examine myself" situation, or a "they need to get off their high horse" situation.

I had listened to the Dirty Old Ladies podcast and they also broke down how willing people are to spend 10, 20, 40, 50 bucks on stuff at conventions. Turns out after the $50 mark it gets harder to move product for all but extremely large or in demand pieces.

This is a similar mentality to pricing most things, actually! Books, merchandise, clothes- it's all about figuring out what numbers equate to other numbers and how much people are okay with spending.
