i think actually at this point if you look at brokeback mountain, a movie so much about gay men it’s been memeified, and point to anne hathaway’s character as viktor you should log off the internet and be forced to engage with actual real life gay people 12 hours a day until you’re normal again

Blood, but not his. That mattered. Steve kept telling himself that it mattered. It slicked Eddie's mouth anyway, dark and tacky at the corners of his lips, smeared along his chin like he'd been careless with a popsicle instead of a deer in the treeline behind the house. The night still clung to him when he stumbled inside, pine and iron and cold wrapped up in his jacket, eyes blown wide and unfocused like he'd gone somewhere Steve couldn't follow. "You good?" Steve asks, already knowing the answer by the way Eddie sways. Eddie hums, noncommittal. "Define good." He lets Steve steer him to the bathroom without a fight. The overhead light flicks on, too bright, too human, and Eddie hisses softly - more annoyed than hurt — as Steve pushes his hair back with careful fingers. There's blood on his knuckles too, probably from bracing himself against bark, and Steve's chest tightens at the sight of it anyway. Always the aftermath. Never the hunt. Steve wets a washcloth, wrings it out, brings it up to Eddie's face. Eddie stills at the first touch, lashes fluttering as if the simple kindness might knock him over harder than hunger ever could. Steve wipes slowly, methodically, like if he rushes it the world might tilt wrong. "You fed enough?" Steve asks quietly. Eddie's mouth quirks. "You offering?" "Eddie." "Yeah," he sighs, leaning into the cloth. "Yeah. I'm fine. Deer was big. Kicked like hell." Steve swallows. There's a smear of red at the corner of Eddie's mouth that refuses to come off, staining him like a secret. The fluorescent light turns him into something unreal - too pale, too sharp, beautiful in a way that hurts to look at. A monster, if monsters could look this tired. Steve presses the cloth harder than he means to. Eddie winces, fangs flashing for just a second before he schools them away. "Sorry," Steve says immediately. Eddie smiles anyway, soft and crooked and devastating. "Hey. Still me. That's the problem. That's always the problem. Steve drops the cloth, cups Eddie's face instead, thumbs warm against skin that's cooling fast now that the hunger's ebbing. There's blood under Steve's nails, proof of something he didn't see but feels anyway, lodged right behind his ribs. "You scare me," Steve admits, voice barely there. Eddie leans forward, forehead resting against Steve's. "I know." Love is learning where the blood ends and the person begins. Steve doesn't know if he's doing it right — but Eddie stays standing, and breathing, and here. For now, that's enough.
