He reached out to take the cup, their fingers just brushing gently as he did.

"Sure. I never get latte's..."

"Well, I'm just a big sack of hayseed from Kansas. The idea I can make anything a mocha is a revelation I've never recovered from."

He joked back, tilting his head and smiling back at her.

"How about you?" He finished his cup, pushing the empty aside.

"This? Flat white, a little sweeter, and a single shot of espresso. A little boring, but I like bittersweet. If I'm feeling frisky I'll get a little hot chocolate added."

Every smile he offered her was straight forward and boyish, like he could mean nothing except what he was saying.

"Oh, no... I'm just pointing out how surprisingly alike we are. We lined our careers up to our passions, and those passions are motivated in similar ways. If I'm noble, then I can't think of a better word for you."

"You want me to carry you up to a jet?"

He blinked, looking at her like she'd said something he definitely understood but couldn't comprehend.

"Or do you want to web me?"

"No, it's... You'll probably think it's silly but it's heraldry, from my home world. It just looks like an S."

He tapped the shield, looking away a bit.

"It stands for 'hope'. Or, it's supposed to, anyway."

She was right, had him dead to rights. He'd blush about nearly anything and everything.

He nodded, taking a sip from his coffee as he weighed her words. He'd never given a LOT of thought to the Gotham villains, they'd always been made out to be absolute madmen and women. Ivy seemed... Normal. Certainly sympathetic.

Absolutely reasonable.

"The plants? Environmentalist? Makes sense."

Hey guys!I decided to try something new in this account of mine (used to be Karen Page). I don't know if it'll work out for me,but it's worth a try, right?☺️I recently started reading the comics , so I'm gonna try my best, and if it doesn't work, watch me switch to someone else,lol

"Just the usual. We had a giant shark man try and steal the Aquarium the other day. And he had no elaborate or valid plan to do it either. And the week before Parasite got loose. Just sort of business as usual."

He patted Dick on the shoulder, all smiles.

Exasperated a little he covered his own eyes for a second and then held the bridge of his nose. "I'm a little bad at words today, miss...?"

"Giant shoulder pads with a cape, maybe lots of silly spikes."

He smirked shaking his head. "And you aren't far off with the belt - though I think as far as the cleavage goes it's a bit much and lots of heroes do that too..."

He paused. "Not that I judge people for that..."

He was momentarily embarrassed with how idealistic that sounded.

"I figured out very late that I like to write. But I always knew I wanted to help people. Journalism works out into helping people see the truth of things. Helps them be better to each other, if they know the truth. Fight misinformation, fight corruption."

He laughed a little.

He stepped behind her, pulling out her chair for her.

"And yeah, it's great. My go -to spot when I'm working the Gotham beat. And as for simply..." He took a seat across from her, enjoying a sip of his own coffee. "I think you're far too interesting, even if that's true."

He opened the door a crack, eyes closed and peeking his head in.

"Lois, this is my apartment. The deposit is in my name."
