If you assume NJ is “more Republican,” you’re going to chase policy that’s more Republican, which could make the problem worse if the problem is that Dems just went home or third party.

I just think that those of us with a specific agenda (ie getting Mikie Sherrill elected in NJ) needs to fully understand the problem, and I think NJ becoming “more” Republican and “less” Democratic are not necessarily the same thing, and need to be addressed very differently.

As studios become so IP driven, for sure, they’ll want to expose non subscribers to their stuff, so you’ll see DreamWorks movies on Netflix and not just Peacock, etc… just like in the past Fox studios would sell shows to NBC, Disney studios to CBS, etc etc etc, spread the cost risk around a little

Yup! Pluto is owned by Paramount, and so they can use it to get the eyeballs of people that are more cost sensitive, monetize their old library, also funnel people to P+. Like the first season of Yellowstone? See the rest by subscribing to Paramount+!

Agreed. I assume eventually most channels will go away, and we’ll have something like the big streaming services and basically go all on-demand/live streams. No 47 ESPNs, no TNT/TBS just MAX.

Democrats went down way more than GOP went up. No one ever talks about that fact. It signals to me it’s a Dem lack of enthusiasm issue more than a people like Republicans more issue.

No one’s talking about it… am I just too dumb to think it’s key to this discussion?

@jvl.bsky.social @sarahlongwell25.bsky.social @thebulwark.com as a NJ resident, when people talk about the “huge” swing towards Trump in ‘24, they always talk about percent. In raw vote totals, Trump got more than ‘20, but the big swing was Biden voters not showing up for Harris.

I wish I had the link, but a few weeks ago I saw an article that said there were something like 95 cable networks, including TNT that average fewer than 150k viewers. AEW is propping that channel up when there isn’t some other major live sports event.

I paid $3 for a pour it and fix it yourself cup of coffee in a QuickChek convenience store in central NJ the other day, and dinner for four at an Outback Steakhouse in Bucks County, PA last weekend cost us $190 with tip, so, yeah trying to make politics out of a $37 entree is nuts.

An entree under $40? Sounds like a value meal in NYC. And isn’t basically every rental in NYC rent controlled? (I honestly don’t know, but I assumed there’s just some law that says you can’t raise rents on existing tenants by more than x% a year)
