This moment is confusing, but cost will never be a barrier with Hey Jane. While we’re not impacted, we stand with the clinics that are. Forcing providers to limit care—or who they serve—is an attack on reproductive freedom and health care. Period.

As a reminder:
✅ We're still providing abortion care
✅ We’re still accepting Illinois Medicaid patients
✅ Care with Hey Jane is $0 for Illinois Medicaid patients
✅ Care is affordable for self-pay patients through our sliding scale, payment plans, and abortion fund partners

Starting this month, a GOP-led budget bill forced some health care providers into an impossible position: choose between serving Medicaid patients or continuing to provide abortion care. Hey Jane, however, is not impacted by this bill.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Hey Jane is *still* accepting Illinois Medicaid—which means that abortion care with us is $0 🧡

It’s been 25 years since the FDA first approved mifepristone. Help us spread the word about this safe, effective option—for every repost, we’ll donate $1 to @abortionfunds.bsky.social.

Some fast facts about mifepristone ⬇️

At Hey Jane, we’ve safely supported over 100,000 patients with telemedicine abortion care, and we applaud every step that moves us closer to making this essential care more accessible to the people who need it.

Even FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, who calls himself a “data guy,” should recognize there’s no stronger data point than his own agency once again reaffirming the safety and science behind mifepristone.
heyjane.com
By expanding generic options, the agency is reinforcing mifepristone’s impeccable safety record.

At a time when politically motivated attacks threaten to undermine science and restrict care, it’s critical to underscore that the science couldn’t be clearer.

The FDA’s approval of another generic version of mifepristone—25 years after first approving the medication—reaffirms what decades of research and millions of patient experiences have already shown: this medication is safe, effective, and essential health care.

From Governor Gavin Newsom: “California is proud to lead the nation in protecting access to reproductive health care and the privacy of patients and providers.”

The law allows pharmacies to omit patients’ and providers’ names from abortion pill bottles, adding a new layer of privacy and protection for those seeking (or overseeing) this essential health care.

✔️ Abortion pills are not new.

Mifepristone was first developed in the 1980s and was legalized in countries like China, Great Britain, and Sweden in the late-’80s and early-’90s. The FDA approved mifepristone in 2000—after years of studying the drug to ensure it was safe and effective.

✔️ Abortion pills are common.

The majority of abortions in the US are now done via medication. And 1 in 4 abortions in the US are done via telehealth using abortion pills.
heyjane.com
✔️ Abortion pills are safe and effective via telehealth.

Studies have found that abortion pills prescribed and administered via a virtual clinic (like Hey Jane) are just as safe and effective as getting them in person.
heyjane.com
✔️ Abortion pills are effective.

Research continues to show that abortion pills are incredibly effective: used together, mifepristone and misoprostol are up to 98% effective (up to 11 weeks of pregnancy).
