There is no freedom without justice.
There is no justice without law.
There is no law without police.
So, there is no freedom without police.
Which is not ideal, but just a fact.

The worst way to find out about what is going on in the world is to rely on stories filed by professional journalists.

Except, that is, for all the other ways.

This is true even when they don't tell you the things you want to hear.
Trump has a talent.
Like a great stand-up comedian who can tell stories and make us laugh.
He tells stories that make people like him.
Truth doesn't matter.
We don't care if the comedian's stories are true.
Trumpers don't care if his are.
Fact checking is no blow.
How do we combat this?

The UK's special relationship with the US gets more special every day.
It must be to due with the very "special" nature of the man in the Whitehouse.

Trump is killing the US.
Soon, all it will have is enemies and hangers-on.
A bit like Trump.
He has "succeeded" in his life because he is an immoral criminal working in a US society where the majority are moral and law-abiding.
This won't work for the US as a nation.
January 17, 2026 at 8:40 PM
Trump has got where he is by being a thoroughly nasty, immoral and bullying individual.
This is his recipe for "success".
Why would he not lead the USA down the same path so it can "succeed" in the way he has?
Did 70 million US voters mean for this to happen?

No matter what lies Trump and his propagandists spread, no matter what nonsense the media prints, no matter what conspiracies MAGA invents, that remains manifestly true.

I wish people would stop speculating about Trump's mental decline.
He has always talked irrational nonsense.
What his base likes is his delivery and attitude.
They don't care how false, childish, nasty or illogical the things he says are.
They maybe don't even realise.

Many Ukraine supporters in world beat themselves up for helping to strip Ukraine of its its nukes back in 1994.
But in 1994 nobody knew what a bulwark of democracy Ukraine would be.
It could have become another Belarus or Kazakhstan.
Imagine either with their own independent nukes

I am going to have to go back to Twitter.
I disparage others for wallowing in their echo chamber, yet my position on anything I strongly care about is rarely challenged here.
I might even join the Trump thing.
I want to cure the idiots.
I hate them making money out of me.
But how else to educate?

When Trump was flip-flopping around erratically it was bad enough.

Now he seems to have decided on a course of action, and managed to make things even worse.

A clueless powerful arrogant narcissist is a disastrous thing.

Trump wants NATO members double the proportion of GDP that they spend on defence.
At this rate, they won't have to spend any more on defence to satisfy him.
All they have to do is to wait until he's halved the size of everybody's GDP.

And when Trump completely mucks up the US and world economies,
like he has with so many of the other things he has run,
he won't be able to declare bankruptcy and start again with another USA and another world,
or fall back on Daddy's money,
or lie, cheat or extort his way out of the mess.

I learned a new word today:
redneckonomics
this is what Trump is practicing.

Redneckonomics is to economics
what astrology is to astronomy
or quackery is to to medicine.

The United States is going down the pan with these imbeciles in charge.

Trump and his court's superpower is that they can tell any lie, no matter how false or shameful, with complete conviction and absolutely not compunction.

They are astonishingly good at this, and so their strategy, even though it is built on lies, is hard to defeat.

This should be acknowledged.
