This portrait was taken by A.F. MacKenzie, at this time Mackenzie was using the abbreviation N.B. after Birnam which stands for North Britain.

#ThrowbackThursday to a Scottish Horse Party in 1939 and the old Scottish Horse Museum which was in Dunkeld.

When the Scottish Horse Museum was closed in 1999 the Chapter House Museum trust adapted their collections policy to accept the Scottish Horse archives and documents. Lucky us!

On the 16th of October 1908 Dunkeld Cathedral was reopened after its renovation which was funded by Sir Donald Currie.

Here we have a photograph of the opening service, an invitation to the event and the order of service.

Mysterious cave in a fantasy film?... NO, it's Lady Charlotte's cave on the hillside of Craig-y-barns.
The cave was a gift for Lady Charlotte, daughter of John Murray the 3rd Duke of Atholl in 1774. This photograph was taken by local woman Mary Noble in 1948.

Here we have Captain Percy Norville Field of the 1st Scottish Horse.

Captain field was killed at Doornlaagte in South Africa in on 2nd March 1902 during the Second Anglo-Boer war.
