A war machine drawn in ink on a parchment folio, in an open book. There is a red caption written in the top left corner. The folio number is written in the top right corner. The machine is triangular in shape and made of wooden planks. The outside are flanked by pointed blades. Inside the machine, two men, bending backward, are attaching iron rings to the wooden structure. The one on the left holds a tool.

The image shows a section of f. 60 in the manuscript Vatican City, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, vat. lat. 645. There is an image of Pegasus in the middle of this selection, surrounded by text. While the top and bottom lines of text are part of an abridged, illustrated version of Bede's De signis caeli and describe constellations (in this case, Pegasus), the text immediately surrounding the image are all medical recipes that have been added at a later date.
