Sigh, this is going to be a tough four years. But it will end and time marches forward.

I built a Skeetbot to count down to the end of the Trump administration #inauguration #countdown

As a local, I’m not even planning to see that much stuff this fall. I only have tickets to two shows right now and have even passed up what I’ve seen on TDF. Definitely not being the “Completionist“ that I’ve been in previous years.

Sometimes it feels like I’ve done nothing BUT watch short run shows. The rarer case is when a show that feels like it was made just for me actually gets to have an ending (like CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND)

Everyone has a 1-2 season TV show they sorely miss and not enough people knew about that you are always praising the heavens about.

What's yours?

It can also translate signs into other languages, which is handy when traveling (and feels like sci-fi to me)

If you have an Android, the Google Lens app does the same type of thing

Do you have an iPhone? If you touch and then long press the button in the bottom right corner, it allows you to copy the text from an image. You still have to clean it up a bit but it’s a big help for transcription

I'm now officially "count out your medication with a daily pill organizer" years old (i.e. 51).

Booked my COVID-19 vaccination appointment for this coming Sunday. I hope nothing changes in the next week that reverses access 😬

CLUE, which I saw in its original run and didn’t even get to see the best ending until the VHS release.

Have never read the novel, but I enjoyed the 2012 film. It’s staged like a play.

I’m assuming this is due to increased attempts to block AI bots. I’ve ramped up efforts to block bots from absolutely slamming my webserver but it’s resulted in some users seeing messages like that.

I still want to hear the score Guettel wrote (even though I’m sure it wouldn’t have worked either)

I keep shouting at the TV whenever I see these commercials. I play that freeminum game (Royal Kingdom) and I can’t imagine they actually earn enough money to pay for these celebs. Maybe the celebs just like playing too and get in-game credits?

Runners up include the THREE INVESTIGATORS series and the works of John Bellairs (and the Edward Gorey illustrations)

What's a book—or series of books—that you loved as a kid that almost nobody seems to read or even remember nowadays?

THE WONDERFUL FLIGHT TO THE MUSHROOM PLANET, a 1954 children's novel (and sequels) by Eleanor Cameron. These were probably the first sci-fi I checked out from my local library
Cover of the book, with 2 boys following an alien under a giant mushroom and the earth in the sky behind them.
