Not really a bit of knowledge as much as getting a reference. The Animal Friendship spell in BG3 has changed the 5e symbol for it to the hand gesture used by Crocodile Dundee in the 1986 movie.

For years the LucasArts office was plagued by an unknown individual known as the “booger bandit” who would smear their boogers on the wall of the bathroom stalls. Repeated emails from management did not stop this from happening.

One of my art teachers worked in 2005 Battlefront 2. He told us they had a lot of trouble trying to get the Separatist logo onto the Banking Clan frigates so they just they just made it float to make it look like it's attached to it.

The East LA level in Tony Hawk's American Sk8land has an elaborate secret involving an invisible rail that clips you through geometry to an out-of-bounds section of the map, revealing a message telling you to hide in the bushes in the Beverly Hills map.

When you do so, the game plays a fart noise.

In Spider-Man games "Maximum Carnage" and "Separation Anxiety" there is a secret move that you can do after pressing up and alternating between two buttons quickly to spin enemies like a pizza.

This is a direct reference to the ZX Spectrum game "Street Hassle" / "Bad Steet Brawler" / "Bop'n Rumble"

But some designs I've done have been so popular that people never stop bugging me about them, and they've been bootlegged 100s of times. So

I never used it for evil. I would stitch grenades filled with floor cleaner into janitors and say the trigger phrase, "go go gadget windex", over radio comms, causing the janitor to splurt cleaning fluid everywhere and polish the floors far more efficiently than they could manage with a mop

In Space Station 13, you can create cheese by combining milk and enzymes.

You can also create voice-activated bombs and insert them into people through surgery.

You can fill a chemical bomb with milk + enzymes, put it inside someone, and say "cheese" to generate cheese at their feet

Early builds of 3D Pinball Space Cadet for Windows 95 ran at an uncapped framerate of 100s of frames per second. They would max the CPU at 100% processing.

The test team at my company would use this to stress test our software - they would run our software along with Space Cadet and see what broke.

Per @sheeri.org’s advice.

The coolest but most useless video game knowlege I can think of at the moment is that in Kings Quest II, a Batmobile will randomly drive out of a cave but you can never catch up to it.

If you hack the game to do so though, it *is* programmed to *not* run over you.
