You know what would have improved TRON: ARES immeasurably? If Ares had kept this look throughout. Some characters should stay faceless.
Ares stepping down from his laser-printed vehicle. His visor is opaque, thus shielding the viewer from having to see Jared Leto’s face and his dumb hair.

I logged my 450th earlier this week. Not too shabby.

Letterboxd/Filmsky Last Four Friday

An empty spectacle, a gigantic turtle, an amnesiac werewolf, and starfish aliens. I won’t lie, it’s strange that the brightest spot in this foursome is a Gamera movie, but there it is.

I hope so. He was great when I saw him in 2019. I’m not looking at any set lists because I want to be surprised, but I think I’ll be happy with whatever he plays.

Got my ticket to see Elvis Costello & The Imposters on Sunday. The process was more stressful than it needed to be thanks to Ticketmaster's Ticketmastery, but I fought valiantly and won the day.

The Halloween party in THE MIDNIGHT HOUR is attended by people in all sorts of costumes (as well as some actual ghouls and monsters). One of the guests is all wrapped up in white bandages (save for their head, which is in a white hood) and they're carrying a doll, which I guess makes them a "mummy."

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

It is a wonder, and the new 4K is stunning. The camera effects really hold up.

Yeah, that one’s pretty rough, but Barry Bostwick is having fun.

In late 2016, I saw a post on Twitter about a new film-centric website that was looking for contributors. I contacted editor Eric D. Snider with a few sample reviews I had done for The Dissolve and he told me to pitch something. My first piece ran that January. I’ve written 138 more since then.
