Hoo boy, the people, they want their 100-packs of current backing boards for the holidays. Good thing I just had a new shipment of them come in.

My friend Brook brought in a binder of punk/indie band show flyers from the mid-ish 1980s, which was amazing to flip through. Included was a flyer for a 45 Grave show in Santa Barbara with Harvey Sid Fisher as an opening act.

Who is Harvey Sid Fisher, you may ask?

Post a famous bathroom scene.

Very tired of companies making it hard for consumers to identify and buy their books. I can't spend my time making shelf labels for *every* comic that refuses to have the actual title somewhere on the cover.
Come on! It would be super easy to just stack the logos. Wouldn't even take any extra space.

Look, I did this in under a minute and I don't even have the files in layers.

in which we look back at one of the great missed opportunities of 80s Marvel - a book designed to tap the zeitgeist of an era’s stylish crime entertainment, the brainchild of writer Martha Thomases and the great Tony Salmons … abruptly canceled after a measly five issues. 🤪

STAR WARS X, but it's a direct sequel to the Holiday Special with all-Wookiee dialogue
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

When I die and there's nobody else on the internet doing Frank Miller's THE SPIRIT gags, you know you'll miss it.

my Star Wars rankings

1. THE LAST JEDI
2. the first STAR WARS, I guess
3. The Holiday Special
4. all the toy commercials I saw in the '70s
5. all the local '70s commercials that desperately tried to tie their product/service into Star Wars

Hadn't looked at my Blu-ray boxed set of the original Planet of the Apes films in a while, and totally forgot about the CGI Lawgiver who provides brief intros. Has the CGI aged well? You bet it hasn't!

The exact angle to turn my ship in the Atari 2600 SPACE WAR game to get off a shot and an immediate cheap point off my opponent before either of us have started to move.

I mean, not *technically* useless but I haven't played SPACE WAR against anyone in decades, so...?
i was going through my X archives and found this by @superpodsaga.com, which I qrt'd at some point years ago

so, let me bring the question back: what is the most useless piece of video game knowledge you know?

that I lived long enough to see a Julie Doucet stamp

this is great
Canada is releasing a set of stamps celebrating the nation's graphic novelists.

These stamps feature Kate Beaton, Jimmy Beaulieu, Guy Delisle, Julie Doucet, Bryan Lee O’Malley and Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas, alongside some of their famous works.

Did a whole thing on my website asking folks their favorite '80s comics, tallied the votes, and discussed each entry: www.progressiveruin.com/category/fin... (The link feeds the posts in reverse chronological order, so no suspense in what #1 was!)

People would literally not know what to do.
I'd like to see a version of Gladiator where they use Fučík's classic Entry of the Gladiators for a few scenes.

Hoo boy, getting ready to list on the eBays my copies of COMIC SHOP NEWS #1 and #0 (the latter a promo item sent to retailers to offer ad rates and generate orders). Not really sure what to price these at, so I may be the flagbearer on these.

Robert Altman asked his teenage son to write the lyrics to the song "Suicide is Painless" for the M*A*S*H movie and wanted them to be "very stupid," but

"The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway"

...is still one hell of a couple of lines.
