Kansalaisyhteiskunnan alkio, varhainen some, esimerkki digitalisaation voimasta –
Miltä näyttää suomalaisen lehdistön paikalliskirjeilmiön historia ja historiografia? Uudessa artikkelissani tarkastelen paikalliskirjeilmiön matkaa marginaalista osaksi kansalaisyhteiskunnan tutkimusta.

The latest issue 13 supplement of 𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 is titled '𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲: 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬' and readable in Open Access format.

Such a pleasure to contribute to this - on the construction and politics of the 'birth experience' in Britain; why do (some) people want to have an 'experience' of birth? What does that, relatively new, concept provide, change, and deny?

We further develop the methodological tools ‘sediments of experience’, ‘layer of experience’, and ‘scene of experience’. For the analysis of cultural legitimation, we introduce ‘scripts’ and ‘narratives’, contributing to the ongoing discussion on the normative and narrative aspects of experience.3/3

We expand on our earlier social history-based approach to experiences by incorporating cultural legitimation into our theoretical framework. We explore the dynamics of change through cultural tradition, present experiences, and future expectations. 2/3

Despite this challenge, the conference turned out to be a success. Following our presentation, Chris Forth, the editor-in-chief of Cultural History, reached out to us and invited us to edit a Special Issue. 3/5

This Special Issue has a unique origin story. Back in August 2022, Minna Harjula and I attended a ISCH conference in Verona. Just before our presentation, I caught COVID-19, which forced us to present from our hotel rooms—Minna via her phone and me via my laptop. 2/5
