In mixed doubles, curlers spend the entire game throwing to the center. The trickiest part of the power play can be that very first stone, throwing a draw on a line you likely haven't seen the entire game. Exactly what we saw with Thiesse's first rock.

I asked Cory Thiesse last month if there was anything she had been working on in preparation for the mixed doubles event. She said her focus had been the soft tap after an opponent makes a good opening draw.

I had to pick up a rental vehicle this morning, and both employees at the rental car center told me they watched the replay of Thiesse and Dropkin's semifinal victory last night and would be tuning in for tonight's replay.
