Lovely listening to Steve Backshall today. Great experiences he described, hope to encounter some whales and dolphins myself one day. #GoDivingShow

A German word for being embarrassed by the actions of someone else is Fremdscham, or “foreign shame.” A similar word from Icelandic is aulahrollur, which is quite tricky to translate but basically means something along the lines of “cringe quake” or “douchebag chills”
Short trip today to the #GoDiving show. May have already made a first purchase. 🫣

This is how the leader and Chancellor-candidate of the Greens in Germany deals with Elon Musk. No great drama. Just a simple "go away" to an obnoxious troll. "Keep your fingers off our democracy, Herr Musk". Well, said!
Lovely sights in Lanzarote today. 🤿

Love it, will she support another vote in Brexit related matters?
Kemi Badenoch cites the "Call A General Election" online petition at PMQs. Fascinating!

Going by Starmer cuddling up to the likes of Blackrock to sell off even more of the land, it is hard to believe that he is looking into anything. Really sad.

Another banger from @hettieobrien.bsky.social:

“The government knew it couldn’t have a political argument about winding back environmental law, because the public likes environmental law. So instead, they set out to kill environmental law by stealth.”

Dirty waters: how the Environment Agency lost its way
The long read: Having created a watchdog for the environment, the government took its teeth out and muzzled it. Can public outrage rouse the Environment Agency to action?

Nothing can make a broken Brexit work. The UK government's red lines have left this country between a rock and a hard place. THIS COUNTRY helped craft the EU single market when we were at the top table, and now we know firsthand what it means to be outside of it. We need to rejoin.
Lanzarote. We are there for a few days, so I'll jump into the water. One visit is planned for the Underwater Museum, rest I will be surprised by the selection made from Dive Point 57 scuba shop.
Five more weeks till the next dive. Can't wait!

The River Wye is dying—& the River Severn is going the same way.
Blistered fish, algal blooms, sewage fungus sludging the riverbed.
The only good news is the response: a “volunteer army” of citizen scientists & activists rising up to protect & heal the river.

Faced with a dearth of data on the impact of local mega farms, volunteers have shown sewage pollution has soared

Stop pretending it doesn't exist, guys.

It's not going away.
Been to Birmingham, Exeter and something in London. As German, the Birmingham one was nice while pricey. That was 2016.

Exeter/London after 2021, both terribly overpriced and poor quality Bratwurst. Wasn’t tasting anything else.
From a few weeks back. Nessi on her holiday in Stoney Cove. 😉
