This is a landscape nature photo that I took after it snowed. A curved line of snow-covered trees follow the icy road winding up a frosted hill. The cerulean sky above creates a dazzling contrast as it fades into the white distance. To the right, trees cast their cobalt shadow across a bright snow bank. Despite the cold, I couldn't help but feel comforted, and standing amid its frigid beauty, my blue heart warmed. Dedicated to Winter's first gift of the season, here is my latest haiku:

A group of three Oak trees standing at the side of an ancient country trackway. I've walked past these trees many times, but this was the first time I'd seen them without foliage. I was struck by the way their beautifully curved and twisted branches seem to waive in the air like sea anemones. I also love how the early morning Spring sunshine casts shadows that emphasise the edges of the branches.

This (and the magical Channel4 animation) is all I need at Christmas time (this and cake).
