“Mandurugas” literally means swindlers, tricksters, or cheats — but in Filipino, it carries a heavier sense of deceitful people who take advantage of ordinary folks. Here, it refers to corrupt officials.
“Ibalik ang perang winaldas” is a demand for stolen or misspent public funds to be returned. “Winaldas” connotes reckless squandering, not just simple spending.
“Tax ng yan!!!” emphasizes frustration — taxes come directly from people’s earnings. A variation of the curse “Tanginang yan!”
“Dugo at pawis namin” (“our blood and sweat”) refers to hard-earned money from ordinary workers. This phrase is a common Filipino idiom to stress how difficult it is to earn a living, making corruption even more enraging.
