The lava gun having physics utterly fascinated me when I was a kid and still kinda does because its the PS2 and you never see weapons like that on the PS2. I loved all the tricks you could do with it to extend the range.

Also you're dead right about Elden Ring/Souls games needing true invaderless co-op. I played through Elden Ring (every boss, base game+DLC) with seamless co-op mod and even with the bugs and hiccups the mod had, it was a total blast and a lot of content felt way better played this way.
