The cone lists Ramose’s titles, including two interesting ones, in column 3 (and highlighted in the second image with a blue box). These titles are ir.ty-nswt “eyes of the King of Upper Egypt” and anx.wy-bi.ty “ears of the King of Lower Egypt”. (2/2)

This funerary cone belonged to a royal scribe called Ramose, who lived during the reign of Taharqa (25th Dynasty). The name of the king appears in a cartouche in the fourth column, followed by that of Ramose. Both are identified as mAa-xrw “justified”, indicating that they were deceased. (1/2)

Para los interesados en la gramática, se trata de un predicado adverbial con sujeto nominal, introducido por la forma sDm=f subjuntiva del verbo wnn, que permite que el predicado adverbial tenga la connotación de deseo.

A few days ago, I found a #manicule on the margin of my copy of Giambattista della Porta’s De Furtivis Literarum Notis (1563), and I asked for bibliography that would allow me to learn more about manicule typologies. Several people recommended Sherman’s Used Books. Thanks a lot! 📚

Yesterday I successfully defended my PhD thesis with minor corrections! My research has evolved so much over the past 4 years and I'm so grateful to my examiners for taking the time to read it and engage with it. And thank you of course to my wonderful supervisor @hypatiaheuresis.bsky.social !

☞ I have a special thing for manicules. What was my surprise yesterday, as I was exploring my new book, when I found this little manicule! I’m in love!

By the way, are there any typological studies of manicules that could allow me to date it?

Today, in Marina’s cabinet of curiosities and library, two new additions: a first edition (1563) of Giambattista della Porta’s ‘De furtivis literarum notis’, an early modern treatise on cryptography complete with three working volvelles and many diagrams; and a wax cylinder for a phonograph.
