Before I even clicked the video to see the context in which Carney responded “who cares” to a reporter asking when he last spoke with Trump, I knew it would a female reporter who asked the question.

Why? Because Carney is consistently more short with and rude to female reporters.

Sure enough:

It’s because liberals (small-L) have always been full of shit and will just say what they need to get power.
I tell ya, the Liberals™️ are scary these days. Carney acting like a soulless banker, sure that was a given.

The party and its supporters though... They did a full 180 in whatever they call their politics and act like they always believed the diametrically opposate thing they beleived last year.

Yes, we're quite good at war crimes, though frankly, overrated. The whole "Geneva Convention had Canada in mind" claim is fake, but the Cdn reputation in WW1 as shock troops was justified.

The earlier Boer War was Canada's most odious: we even set up a racist cop org based on the NW Mounted Police.
Ian pls give me a fact check on the reputation of Canadians as the OG war criminals because I think you could draw a straight line to Don Cherry

The belligerent, maudlin, mythical “good-guy” narrative that Canadians love to embrace (I blame Don Cherry) is going to do nothing but 1) get more working-class Ukrainians killed and 2) enrich war profiteers. They care more about lines on a map

Carney could shoot a person in front of Parliament and some goof, like Wolf Z, would immediately log on to say "you dont understand the macroeconomic implications of murder on the Canadian economy like Carney does"

Why do people keep trying to make our country out to be some kind of pristine social utopia?

I've heard more racist shit in my small town than I've ever seen on the internet.

Jesus wept... VPNs are real. It's easier and much more pleasant to pretend the malign actors in this country aren't even in this country but use some common sense.

The country that invented the Proud Boys has chuds in it. The longer we delude ourselves the worse this gets.

Really looks like the United States is about to launch a regime change war against Venezuela with:

-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout

This got me blocked by a mutual without discussion. Any other takers?

Wishcasting the end of a war by demanding the side that's winning to unilaterally withdraw is asinine.

"Right" becomes "might" when you give the guns the job of settling your problems. That's what war is.
That's just not how war works. It sucks but reality is that Ukraine can't win. It must end.

Even after the sack of Rome, it took 66 more years for the Western Roman Empire to fall. The East hung on for almost 1000 years more.

I think it’s in a period of economic decline, and its influence on the international stage is seriously waning for the first time since WW2, but I think that will lead to hard power increasingly being used to replace the lost soft power. I don’t see a ‘winds of change’ self-dismantling any time soon

I genuinely wish I beleived that the American Empire is collapsing but I genuinely don't see evidence of it.

It's in a period of decline to be sure, and it's pretty evident at this juncture that the US has transituoned fully to a single-party autocracy but it ain't going away.
