So the big question should be:

"What trophy should Ange Postecoglou be awarded for his efforts?"

A golden turd?
A figure of a footballer kicking the ball into their own face?
A bust of a grumpy beardy man?

I mean, he was always going on about ending up with a trophy...

Just hope that they bring a set piece coach with them. We've been dreadful during the Ange experiment.
Encyclo-kneeedia Bread-tannica?
Who moved my cheese toastie?
Interesting to see the penny drop for Joe Wilkinson that the Faithful are firstly playing against Claudia as she picks the Traitors team.

It's certainly useful for kids to appreciate that there are a variety of belief systems that other people follow around the world. Luckily my kids are aware that most of it is a mix of beliefs that were made up to try and make sense of the world, combined with stories, and usually some restrictions.
Tried some matcha tea today. Still not sure if I would have been better off just putting a handful of grass clippings in the bottom of the mug instead.
Always a frisson of excitement when "Killing in the name of" gets played on daytime radio, just to see if they accidentally play the proper sing along version.

5. Quite a few plot lines that link to the One Ring storyline. The films and TV series have made us very accustomed to this, but the books tended towards being a bit vague about what was going on. However, giving the impression of bigger forces at work elsewhere is VT.

In the end I quite liked it.
4. No excessive use of poetry, family trees, or made up languages. A plus in my book, but not very Tolkien. He would have found a way to include an 18 verse epic poem written in a derivative of old Norse to explain the back story of the Hornburg - the old woman caretaker would have recited it.

1. The patriarchy was firmly in charge throughout. Lots of stubborn men making bad decisions, locked into fixed patterns of thinking. Very Tolkien.

2. So Hera's character has to be very strong to cut through. Likewise VT.

3. Interactions with eagles without a wizard/elf to mediate felt wrong

Just watched this last night. Took me a while to get on board with the Anime, and some of the scenes with lots of troops advancing felt reminiscent of the animation style in South Park or Monty Python - all very blocky.

Was it true to Tolkien?

When listening to #tms on the #bbc I find that Alistair Cook and Stephen Finn sound rather similar, so it always comes as a shock when they start talking about batting or bowling and I have the current speaker mixed up with the other one.
They are in desperate need of a vision and a narrative that they can project and use to tell their own stories. I could tolerate a year of messing up (there's plenty of mess from the last lot) if there were some clear destination points and stepping stones laid out.
... The crocodile reminds me that when in doubt, deal with the nearest crocodile to the canoe (and having been in Nepal in a canoe being watched by crocodiles that phrase takes on a new urgency).
The shark is to remind me of the longer term threats and issues "circling around" further away.
Not so different really.
Always keep a "to do" list, and make sure it contains a few easy ones just to help build momentum.
I also keep a fluffy toy crocodile and shark in my home study (leftovers from our wedding at Bristol Zoo where the toys were lucky dip wedding gifts for guests)... continues...

I think we're dealing with a case of a personal definition of self promotion.

Big global news story breaks that doesn't involve Trump, and he can't help but bring it into the orbit of his ongoing reality TV show.
I can't believe I only just found out that it's #WorldGinDay... Plenty of catching up to be done!
... or not.

But we'd have happily taken this at the start of the season.
Daring to dream of the chance to add a third star next year...

All those people of Ghorman, and we never got to find out if any of them were called Dave...

Word of the day is ‘foozle’, from the 19th century: of a golfer, to bungle a shot. More generally, to make a complete mess of something.
