Cutesy new social media app intro:

Ira is not my name.

I love Jesus and unproblematic Black people.

Books, food, travel, [videos of] animals, and music are my jams.

I'm here for giggles, news, and the occasional thought-provoking interaction, not tepid political takes.

Exactly. But they will never admit that the boycott (both full and partial) is working.
Also points to the 9+ month boycott by Black consumers in particular for rolling back their DEI and minority business programs
Target just sent up a giant red flag about the U.S. consumer. A 30% stock plunge, collapsing store traffic, and margin pressure all point to the same thing: Affluent shoppers are rattled and recession fears are rising qz.com/tgt-wmt-earn...

I was 20 before I learned that the serving size of Oreos is *two*

As in, two cookies, not two rows.

Every reason I didn't want a basement has proven to be true. Unnecessary extra space, below ground units have too many issues, and all around creepy.

I should've stuck to my guns.

Like, I am so damn tired of responsibilities. Apartment living freed me from one more set of things to worry about . . . and now this. I let folks sell me on the dream of owning a [too-big] home, and now all I do is spend money and time on it.

Three years until I liberate myself.

At this point, there is nothing I enjoy about homeownership. Can't wait to sell this money pit.

Option B it is 😩
I had some cute moments with a British Punjabi guy this week, and we exchanged contact info.

We'll either become good friends for life, slowly stop communicating with no hard feelings, or he's going to be my husband and this week was our meet cute.

To be continued . . .

Are they still making Rosetta Stone? Because this is about to be a mess, given that their switch to AI-generated content has already made too many lessons repetitive.

These are the same ones who don't show up early to help set up or stay late to help clean up. And probably have the nerve to take at least one plate to go.

How do I know? Because a whole branch of relatives (not family, iykyk) moves like this 😑
Yall just pulling up to parties with nothing forreal? A different breed

This part.
Ummmmm yes. I hosted Friendmas yet my friend group helped contribute. We all do and I NEVER go to a function empty handed!
Even if it’s cups, ice, chasers, etc I always chip in.
Yall hosting parties and make the guests bring stuff?

I . . . was not prepared to log on here and see this "show your work" level of cookout math.
alright bet let's kick it off ...
Here's your word problem for the day...

1 rack if ribs costs anywhere btwn $16-23. You got 20ppl coming to the bbq, you dont know how many are vegan/dont eat pork. How many racks you need to buy?

Currently Googling, "How long should I keep a house before selling it," because the first two months of homeownership have been a joke and I want to go back to putting in maintenance tickets.

58 days in: 1/10 recommend.

The issue is, you meet a guy outside of the apps, y'all vibe for a moment, go your separate ways because it was just a moment in time, and you try to return to the apps but can't because it's janky there and meeting people organically is just so much nicer.

😫

Happy Resurrection Sunday! Ever grateful that "that's not how the story ends."
April 20, 2025 at 1:39 PM
Idk how to explain it, but Ryan Coogler made a horror movie that was a love note to Black people and the Deep South culture that has shaped so many of our family stories.

#Sinners was stunning.

(And now I'm homesick.)

I'm so glad UConn dragged UCLA. I'm choosing to see this as justice for LSU and that BS article from last year.

It just hit me that 4.20 is also Easter Sunday, and I . . .

I need everyone to see this, so we can stop undermining the intelligence of our women and start using more discernment when qualifying men. The proof is in the pudding. In general, men are less educated than women. Unfortunately, the loudest men are the uneducated ones and they produce more idiots.

Only 19 percent of students at Howard University are Black men, whose enrollment levels at four-year colleges have plummeted across the board

Watching "An Affair to Remember" for the final time before it leaves Netflix because I need my heart to swell with love, break, and heal one more time.

Me in the national security group chat:

I'm more concerned that no one noticed the random phone number in the chat.
Should you be terrified that every person in the National security apparatus was discussing war on signal???

Maybe
If you think a U.S Defense Sec. texting our war plans to a reporter is terrifying, what about an orange-faced president boasting to a billionaire he later called a "red-haired weirdo" about US nuclear submarine capability and proximity to possible targets? www.nytimes.com/2023/10/22/u...
