Our state GOP/Freedom Project reps can be such morons. "Hey, has anyone seen my gun? It was in my desk drawer this morning." Some are demanding students, faculty, and staff have right to be armed on campuses.

If someone cites under my name a made-up journal article I didn't write can I add it to my CV?

Last night, Seth Meyers discussing what Rob Reiner meant to him was heartbreaking, funny, and thought provoking. At the end he said Rob set an incredible example. So much respect for Rob. 💔 youtu.be/CUW2GmKtqO0?...

Giving two separate final exams today. During each I got a casual email: "hey, when can I reschedule--I felt really bad all weekend."
I'm conflicted in that I don't want sick students spreading colds/flu. But the tone gets me. I fear that this generation will have no nightmares about missing exams.

Sad but not surprised to see that Barron Trump has been groomed to be a scumbag. We're likely not going to be done with these folks for generations.

The Brown University shooting is a terrific event. Yesterday after my last class (where I had said "bear" is the kanji of the year in Japan and the reasons why) a student asked me about gun laws in Japan. I said that I don't know, but that I think it's a multi-year process to get permission. 1/2

"No Hair Man," that's what my fellow students at Matsuyama Nishi-Kō HS called the bald English teacher. He was very kind to me, but I laugh recalling my introduction to how influential the Beatles were in Japan, even in '82-'83 when I first went as an exchange student.

I just got carpel-tunnel syndrome from opening a can of beans with a 20th century can opener. Why can't I have mini-drones dropping in to open my bean can before I even know I want it opened?

My wife wanted a new stainless steel skillet and had heard good things about Made In. Ordered it 11/28. It's been fun tracking it from NJ to MI to KY to MO and now to St. Paul, MN. Was supposed to have arrived today at the latest. Now 12/12 as ETA. Seems an odd way to get it to NH.

My wife is watching "Samurai in Time" (侍タイムスリッパー) for the third time. It's a fun movie, we both agree (available with ads on youtube), but her enjoyment also comes from the Kansai dialect some of the actors use. I lived in Nara pref. for a couple of years, so I hear it, but I don't get the nuances.

Chris Martin sings:

"Look at the snow--
It's right in front of you,
It's such an ugly view,
Cuz it was all
Yellow."

Anyway, within the 20 minutes of the dog walk the temp dropped from 35F to 25F and a strong squall froze my face. Supposed to be 3F tomorrow morning for the next walk.

I recorded a couple of songs 15 years ago with some old high school band friends. One of them still plays and runs a studio. He just sent me two AI versions. As someone who played, I was at once repulsed and intrigued. He could use AI to quickly make elevator-ready versions of power-pop songs.
