A pretty stellar showing for the C2 on Collision. That tournament is, again, doing everything that you'd hope a wrestling tourney would do. It's delivering fully on its premise and getting me more excited for the product than I would otherwise be.

Mercedes and Red Velvet had a really good, relatively short midcard match. Velvet came out looking the best she has ever looked. It basically did everything that a 3rd match on the card can do without burning through big spots and nearfalls.

The first minute of Nigel Vs Lee had me a bit worried. They did some cosplay Johnny Saint stuff that I'd rather see left behind forever in 2009 Chikara.
However, it drew me in p. quickly and I was loving it by the end. Nigel can still just straight up go. He's great.

I saw The Righteous debut in TNA. I'll never understand what possesses wrestling companies to make them do the Sabu entrance for people who aren't stars. It's really quite a mean thing to do. If it doesn't get a big reaction from the crowd, then it's utter death.

The sheer audacity of this ahistorical, Dave Meltzer hate, is really outrageous. Dave gave this match and its predacessor, three and three quarter stars. And that's before Daveflation, when those numbers meant something.

This should be remembered as a top twenty worst angle of all time. I fear however that it's going to be forgotten in favour of the usual suspects like Judie Bagwell and Katie Vic. This was only four years ago.

Some Collision thoughts:
Pac Vs. Mike Bailey was fantastic. I love the new Pac and I have a feeling this run is going to be some of the best work of his career.
The Eddie Kingston promo was a bit too CM Punk for me. I don't like this 'I'm shootin cus I'm a wrestler, not an entertainer' stuff.

Some Collision thoughts:
Pac Vs. Mike Bailey was fantastic. I love the new Pac and I have a feeling this run is going to be some of the best work of his career.

Didn't really love what I saw of Full Gear. I thought there was a lot to be dissatisfied with, particularly with regards to the crowd.

The new Babish videos are really good and such an improvement over that period when he was trying to copy Mr. Beast.

Triple H isn't even a kayfabe character on the show anymore and he puts himself front and center on the poster for Wrestlemania. At least Vince was the actual top heel in the company.

Miu Watanabe has been a really interesting wrestler to watch for the last year and a half. In every match now, she's doing new transitions and new spots. Her matches with Shoko have been completely different to almost anything else going on in wrestling.

ZSJ Vs Takeshita was as good as I thought it was going to be. It's ZSJ and Takeshita. Treasure them now because there aren't another two guys like them walking through that door.

Yuya Uemura is one of the coolest and most unique guys to come out of the NJPW system in years. There's so much potential there.

I'm still very much on the Gabe Kidd train even though he's cooled down from his hot start in Jan/Feb (which I don't blame on him btw). It left a big impression on me the last time I was in York Hall when he was the only guy to get actual heat, in front of fans who mostly wanted to clap and chant.

I've watched a lot of wrestler back catalogues in preparation for GWE and the biggest revelation so far is how great Takashi Sugiura is. I always knew he was good but for whatever reason, I never had him figured into my list of favourites until now.

I don't know what to say about Cena Vs. AJ. It was like a match two Chikara lads would have had in the middle of King of Trios years ago. Breaking out finishers from the 80s as a bit, with the commentators deadpanning. Except it was a real marquee match on a real a WWE PPV. Absolutely baffled.

I genuinely recommend picking a real sport and getting into it so you can enjoy moments like the Seattle Mariners making the league championship for the first time in 24 years.

For some reason I decided to binge The Sopranos, a show I have seen several times. Whenever I watch S1, I always mourn its casualties like Brendan Filone, Mikey Palmice and Vin Makazian. They were whacked out too early. The guy who played Makazian was nom'd for an Emmy and he's only in 5 episodes.

It was surreal for me to see Mistico do the bloody ripped mask thing as he is the guy, more than anyone else, who I associate with modern 'clean' CMLL.

I have no idea what possessed me to do it but I watched a bit of John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars, and God it's a misfire on several levels. Rock music score is one of those things that never really worked and is very dated today. Also the 'Big Daddy Mars' character is comical looking and sounding.

It baffles me how someone like Max, who as demonstrated last night in CMLL has a generational grasp on crowd psychology, can have so many bad ideas and can regularly succumb to such hacky shit. Why isn't he like this most of the time?

Mistico vs MJF was fantastic. One of those matches were I was successively thinking 'this is good. Okay, now it's great. Okay, now I'm watching something special'. They nailed a couple of big moments in the second half which sent the crowd into a frenzy and kept them at that level until the finish.
